I’m not sure if I am scared or excited about the return of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop. It’s no secret that many of the antics of the ladies on the show left me cringing with every recap, but there is going to be quite a shift in casting. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!
Anyone who watched last season knew of the discord between Chrissy Lampkin and producer Mona-Scott Young. Viewers wondered if a show without Chrissy, her now fiance Jim Jones, and everyone’s favorite, Jim’s mom (!!!), would even be a show at all. Who wants to watch a program void of a mumbling Jim and a “pyhsicotic bitch”? Not this gal. I love me some Mama Jones!
Following the highly dramatic second season of Love & Hip Hop, and the non-reunion recap show, Yandy Smith is now opening up on a whole lot in a new interview.
Talking to VH1, Yandy confirms what we reported, which is that Chrissy Lampkin was indeed the reason VH1 could not film a typical reunion, as she refused to be in the same room with Yandy because Yandy refuses to bow down to her unlike Emily and Olivia. Diva much?
Yandy also reveals the status of her relationship withJim Jonesand Mama Jones today, discusses how she actually helped create the Love & Hip Hop series, and responds to all those rumors out about her – including the pesky one that she’s pregnant. Below are excerpts from Yandy’s interview:
What are your thoughts on the recap episode?
I was a little apprehensive, I was a little upset at the last few episodes with Erica and I was like ‘Oh my god, you guys made it look like I was setting Kim up!’ so I was kind of upset with production and Mona [Scott-Young] and I was like, why aren’t we doing a regular reunion show, I want to address people and certain things that were said and done, and Mona was like well, Chrissy doesn’t want to tape with you. I was like with me?? Why not? So I was like, I only want to do it if I can address the things that have happened because I don’t like looking a certain type of way.
I know that you were around for the filming on season one. I don’t know what your role was though. Were you on the set a lot?
No, I pitched the show but it was called, ‘Keeping Up With the Joneses.’ I pitched it. We couldn’t really get Jim to commit the way we needed him to, so I called my good friend Mona and she came in and she was pitching a show to another network about the women behind the scenes in hip-hop. So we put our brains together, and we figured out that we did the same kind of concept that she had but with Jim and Chrissy. Season one, I was actually overseas with Missy Elliott. I was overseas for three months, and that was the whole taping. I came back the day of Chrissy’s proposal to Jim and I was there for that. You’ll see me on clips briefly in that proposal scene.
Have you spoken to Jim at all since everything ended?
Nope, I haven’t. And what about your relationship with Mama Jones?
I’ve spoken to Mama Jones… a bunch of times. I just spoke with her yesterday. Things are okay with her and I. She got mad at the last episode, but other than that…well not the last episode, she got mad when Chrissy and I got into it at the club. She was like, “That was unnecessary!” People don’t understand that when you’re human, you can only hold your composure but for so long, especially if it’s not who you really are. I’m not someone who gets talked to crazy or one that gets mistreated. You know, I have pretty good relationships. I’ve always maintained my relationships, so that was really difficult for me to keep biting my tongue. Someone just kept picking at me. You know? It was just difficult. It got to a point where I just got really tired and I was like, “You know what? I’m going to quit because I don’t ever want to disrespect someone’s lady.” So that’s when I just felt like maybe the best thing for me to do is just walk away from the situation to make things a little easier for him. Do you take any comfort knowing that [Chrissy’s] anger and her feelings weren’t only directed at you? She had her fight with Kimbella. She’s had her history with Somaya—
Then Olivia for a little bit.
I don’t take comfort in knowing that because I think it’s sad, you know? I don’t take comfort in knowing that someone’s so bothered and just so unhappy that they have to find something to pick at. That doesn’t make me happy. That doesn’t make me comforted. I wish she could’ve been happy and have enjoyed taping and had a great experience from it. I do not find comfort in knowing that, you know, she had to find someone to pick at every season or every episode. You’ve been the target of rumors, including one about you being pregnant, how do you handle that?
It’s crazy. I’ve heard I got a nose job, people put up before and after pictures of me, but they don’t know about makeup contouring. I’ve heard that I have butt implants. I’ve heard that I hosted a party at a gay and lesbian club so I’m a lesbian, I’ve heard so many crazy things, I don’t know how to explain it. I think people are used to it and know that it’s nonsense. Every single week I hear something new about me and it’s 98& false and 2% okay, I’ll give you that, maybe I gained weight so my boobs look bigger and I do look fatter. What’s going on with your jewelry line?
It’s going really well! We’re calling it a lifestyle brand, EverythingGirlsLove.com is the name of the jewelry line and the online magazine. It launched when the show launched and it’s doing amazingly well in such a short time. We have Karen Gravanofrom Mob Wives on the cover now, last month we had Mashonda, the first month I was on the cover.
Meanwhile, Jim Jones made the following tweets below about producer Mona Scott Young after the recap episode aired on Monday night:
When all else fails, blame editing or better yet blame the producer! Both Chrissy and Jim are acting like whiney sore losers. The minute fans are no longer team Chrissy, all of a sudden they are ready to quit the show. Perhaps Chrissy needs to accept responsibility for her own bully actions, instead of blaming others! She’s the one who made herself look bad this season; starting with the nastiness by stomping and sucker punching Kimbella.
Moving on to Emily Bustamante, who posted a picture of her and her rapper beau Fabolous, proving the two are still indeed together or something like it. Emily posted a cozy photo of the two under the caption: “Don’t sleep on us.” That photo of Emily and Fab is below!

Following the Miami fight betweenYandy Smithand Chrissy Lampkin, who might or might not be in desperate need of a hobby, Olivia is now speaking out about being stuck in the middle of both ladies. It turns out Olivia has actually known Yandy much longer than Chrissy.
In the interview with the Necole Bitchie blog, Olivia also gives us the status of her music career and talks being in love with her new beau! (A photo of Olivia and her new boyfriend is below.)
Here are excerpts from Olivia’s interview:
Ok, let’s get right into it. Do you feel caught in the middle of this war between Chrissy and Yandy? You know what, I do. See, I’ve known Yandy for 8 years. From my Violator days. And we’re friends. And I’ve known Chrissy, well since we first started filming, so for 2 years now. But with Chrissy it was a fast bond. We just met and clicked and I was like ‘Yeah this is easy’. So when I found out Yandy was joining the cast, I figured because they knew each other though Jim, that it would be good. ‘This should be a breeze, there should be no drama.’ I was wrong. It’s caught me off guard. I do feel completely caught in the middle.
Is the situation repairable? At one point I thought it was. I don’t know about now. But I do believe anything is repairable. One thing about Chrissy is when she does calm down, she will be like ‘You know what, I can give you one more try.” She’s not some unreasonable person. And I personally hope she’s not done with Yandy.
In your opinion, does one hold more blame than the other? Coming from Chrissy’s side you can understand why she’s mad. I mean you see Yandy give her the book. But then you have to know Yandy. She really is a good person. Yandy really was trying to help. And then when we were at the showcase, and Yandy got up to dance to Mama Jones song…You have to understand Yandy has a great relationship with Mama Jones so why wouldn’t she show support and dance to her song? But then you can see why Chrissy’s mad. If you know the song is about Chrissy and you two aren’t on the best term right now, then you can see how Chrissy would take this as a diss. So it’s hard because both sides are equally right to both people.
You really are right in the middle. I’m definitely in between them. Just know this, I won’t let them fight.
What’s going on with the music? I’ve got my new single, which is doing very well. So I’m happy. I finally get to do the music I want.
What’s going on with the third deal? Are you still looking? It’s difficult. We’ve had a lot of deals offered but we need the right deal. We’re mostly concerned with marketing and promotions. I feel like that’s where they went wrong with me. I was marketed as a rapper. But finally having the right management who knows how to manage R&B artists, we can finally do it right. But we’ve had big offers – for 3 albums, a singles deal – so the issue isn’t an offer, it’s waiting for the right offer.
Would you come back for a third season? Man, I don’t know. I’m not sure there’s much farther you can take my characters. And I don’t know how much more I’m willing to open up. The editing annoys me. I’m not always crying like they make it seem. But then you have a good show about women in the industry. So I’m honestly not sure. We’ll see.
Are you dating? I am. I’m happily in love.
Whoa. That’s quite a statement. Do I know this guy that’s got you so happily in love? I don’t know if you know him. But we tweet each other all the time, we’re so corny.
Olivia’s boyfriend is Tarence Kinsey, who has played for NBA teams Cleveland Cavaliers and Memphis Grizzlies, and now plays in Europe. A photo of the two together is below!
While Olivia has managed to remain drama free on the VH1 show she hasn’t been so lucky in real life. Case in point, she managed to get into a nasty Twitter war with Jim Jones’ mom yesterday.
It all started when Mama Jones a.k.a Nancy Jones decided to tweet some not so nice things about Olivia. The reason? Nancy wasn’t too happy with the impression Olivia did of her on the show on Monday’s episode. While the impression seemed pretty harmless, Nancy did not see it that way. Below are some of Nancy’s tweets:
@1andonlyOlivia I hate u,ur gonna hate me,we’re never gonna be a family,I’ll kick ur ass from here2Japan,I don’t give a freakn damn! #Barney
@1andonlyOlivia #homedepot is hiring or either #Barney “I love you, you love me..” ~ Ciao
@1andonlyOlivia don’t ever, ever put my name in your mouth and you were the “puff puff” pass for #GUnit? ~ Ciao
@1andonlyOlivia if uever wear a tie I would chokeu wthat tie&if uevercall urself imitating me bad, bad, day we’re back at sq.1a slap in yaface
Olivia apparently had enough and decided to fire back at Nancy tweeting:
“I wanna respect my elders but 4some odd reason this old bag keeps fuckin w/me & aint nobody thinkin bout u so suck my dick *oliver voice*.”
“Man I’m tired of this bullshit I aint do shit 2nobody ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”
CLASSY. Nancy has since deleted most of her tweets with some now saying perhaps her Twitter page was hacked. But that is highly unlikely as she also gave a recent radio interview in which she dissed Olivia. Olivia has also deleted her first tweet.
