If you’re a Mob Wives fan, chances are one of the big (literally) draws to the show is the larger than life Big Ang. Her fun-loving personality and no nonsense personality make for entertaining television, and she somehow remains in all of her cast mates’ good graces even when they want to wring each other’s necks. She can even complain about “rats” without making the word (or the backwards concept) feel like nails on the chalkboard.
Unfortunately, Ang is facing some very hard times. Last year, the reality star underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in her throat. After getting a clean bill of health, Ang received the disheartening news that her cancer had returned, this time metastasizing in her lungs and brain with a stage 4 diagnosis. Not surprisingly, she’s doing everything she can to combat the disease, especially since her tumors are not responding to the latest rounds of chemotherapy.

According to TMZ, Ang is seeking alternative means to ease her pain in the form of cannabis oil. While the treatment isn’t scientifically proven to shrink tumors, the oil is widely used to treat cancer related pain at a price. The oil can cost up to $60 for a gram. Ang’s sister Janine Detore has started a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough money for Ang’s treatment.
Entitled THE BIG BATTLE, Janine started the GoFundMe page yesterday and, as of writing this post, it was just $500 shy of the $25,000 goal. On the page, Janine describes her sister’s fight, writing, “Many of you know her as ‘Big Ang’ of Mob Wives, but we know her as Angela our sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin or just a friend. Angela is the 5th of 7 children mother of 2, grandmother of 6 and the friend of many . As you know my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 brain and lung cancer. Chemotherapy was started January 5 th. On January 26th the doctor reviewed her CT scan and informed us that the treatment was not working, and in fact one tumor grew larger and the other tumors had no change.”
Janine continues, “We were advised that she would start immunotherapy the following week. Well here we are at the emergency room waiting to see why her breathing is labored and the amount of pain she is having is by far more than she could handle. So I suggested cannabis oil as an alternative. This is why I am putting up this go fund me to try to help my sister to get this oil to help her at least be pain free. Angela cannot function to work anymore. I’m not sure that it will work but I’m praying . We all thank you in advance for your prayers & kind wishes. Help Big Ang fight her BIGGEST BATTLE!”
