The Robertson family of Duck Dynasty never ceases to amaze me. Not only do they have a reality show that is good, clean fun and no drama (you can actually watch with your kids!), they are constantly giving back to their community while living up to their motto of faith, family, and ducks.
Of course, the best part about this crew is that they don't pretend to be perfect. What an odd concept in the land of reality stars! Patriarch Phil Robertson never hides the fact that he was a less than stellar husband and father in his younger years, and now a new documentary explores the Robertson's past.

According to People, the Robertsons are the focus of a documentary in which Phil opens up about the infidelity and substance abuse that threatened to destroy his union with Miss Kay. The short film, called The Robertsons, was released this week by Christian group I Am Second.
The pair wed when Kay was just sixteen. Of their early years of marriage, Kay reveals, "The drinking got worse," adding, "And I knew then but I didn't want to believe it; [he] was running around on me. And what I would tell my boys all the time is, 'That's not your daddy. That's the devil in your daddy.'"
Phil, who is very vocal about his strong Christian faith, explains, "You can only run the sex, drugs, rock 'n roll so far. It's only when you meet Jesus and you look back at where you were that you end up saying things like, 'What was I thinking?'"
Kay shares that she wasn't ready to give up on the love of her life, saying, "I've been fighting for this marriage for a long time and it's working."
I love that this family is so honest about their hardships. Not only does it make them more relatable, but to me, it makes their relationship seem even more genuine. All you have to do is watch how Phil looks at Kay, and you know they share quite a love story. Y'all know I love this family!
