Page Six reported that, while Fineman built strong friendships with several cast members, one source claimed she did not always click with everyone on the show. The insider alleged, “Chloe could rub people the wrong way at times.” Thus adding, “She got along really well with some cast members, but not everyone clicked with her.”
The publication also said the same source claimed, “Some cast members felt like she expected people to accommodate her and assumed everyone would adjust to her schedule and preferences.” However, the insider added, “It wasn’t some huge feud or anything like that.” A second source disputed those claims, telling the outlet, “There’s no truth to this.” According to the report, representatives for Fineman and NBC did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Before the backstage claims surfaced, Fineman shared a heartfelt goodbye on Instagram. She wrote, “After 7 wonderful seasons at ‘SNL’ I have decided it’s time for my next chapter,” before calling her time on the show “the greatest privilege of my life.” She also reflected on the emotional highs and lows of sketch comedy. Jokingly, she added, “You sob uncontrollably when your sketch isn’t picked. You storm into a producers office telling them they just made the biggest mistake of their lives. You call everyone you know to complain. And then you look back a few years later and it was a sketch called ‘lipstick for thicc dogs.’”
Her announcement drew support from several current and former cast members. Marcello Hernandez commented, “Congrats Carlotaaaa,” while Ben Marshall wrote, “SNL legend.” Former cast member Ego Nwodim added, “Congratulations Chloe!!!”
The report also noted that Nwodim and Heidi Gardner had previously spoken about the competitive nature of SNL. During Nwodim’s Thanks Dad podcast in 2025, Gardner explained, “We’re humans, so we have egos, we want things for ourselves, we want to succeed, and there weren’t a lot of times when we were able to succeed in the way we wanted at the exact same time.” Nwodim agreed, saying, “It’s so easy to be caught up with your own stuff at ‘SNL’ and what you’re getting on and what you’re not getting on.”
The publication previously reported that Fineman accepted a role in David E. Kelley’s upcoming Netflix drama Myron Bolitar, prompting what an industry insider described as a rapid decision. “It all unfolded in one day… It happened very quickly,” the source said. “Chloe went back and forth, but it was a smart move. She knew she couldn’t say no. After seven seasons on the show, and with all the new faces, it was probably the best move for her.”
