Joe Millionaire Alum Evan Marriott

Joe Millionaire Returning To TV

The easy aughts were full of some wild dating shows. All of which I watched, of course. One of the crazier ones that I remember all these years later was Joe Millionaire. The show aired back in 20o3 and featured bachelor Evan Marriott as the lead dude that women were competing for. He was a former underwear model turned construction worked. But the ladies competing for his love and affection were told that he was a millionaire worth more than $10 million. Which made him look way more appealing. But was his winner after love or money?

After choosing a winner, Evan would then reveal that he was just a regular working class guy. If the winner decided to stay with him and pursue a relationship, they would both split $1 million. Not too shabby. His winner did stay with him, but they ultimately broke up. Shocker.

Now, Us Weekly is reporting that a new version of Joe Millionaire, titled Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer, will be hitting our screens in January of 2022. It’s reworked into a slightly different premise this time. Instead of 20 women going after one supposed millionaire, these women will go after two different men, only one of being worth “more than $10 million”. It’s a nice little twist while keeping the original premise that the women have to decide what’s more important – love or money.

From the teaser Fox released, we at least know that there will be another butler watching over the mess show. The contestants are going to stay at a fancy estate and there will be of course, a romantic horseback ride. What is a dating show without one?

As for the original Joe Millionaire, Evan got out of reality TV and opened his own equipment rental company in Orange County, California. Too bad there is no appearance on Real Housewives of Orange County. Then again, would we really remember him? But despite being out of the reality world, Evan has appeared on a few panels to discuss his time on the show. Aside from that, he has mostly faded from public view.

According to Evan back in 2015, “I’ve been offered all kinds of things as far as interviews and shows, and I’ve said no so much over the past 10 years that a lot of people think I’m crazy. I’ve got a good job I can fall back on. If something else comes along, I’ll do it, but I don’t really have to.”

TELL US – WILL YOU BE WATCHING THE NEW JOE MILLIONAIRE? DID YOU WATCH THE ORIGINAL? WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE THE LOVE OR THE MONEY?
