Leslie Fhima Felt ‘Uncomfortable’ During The Golden Wedding

Former Golden Bachelor contestant Leslie Fhima was happy to be able to support Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist when they said “I do” at The Golden Wedding. Still, she was honest enough to admit that part of it was a little bit awkward.

And honestly, is that surprising? The thought of going to an ex’s wedding is awkward enough as is without knowing that the girl he’s marrying is the one he was dating at the same time as you.

Here’s what went down at The Golden Wedding, which left Leslie feeling “uncomfortable.”

Costa Rica memories

“It was a little uncomfortable during the ceremony when they were talking about Costa Rica because I was there too,” Leslie, 65, said about the wedding during a recent episode of the Almost Famous podcast

Leslie was the other finalist during The Golden Bachelor and went to Costa Rica to meet Gerry’s family and have that special final date. She was ultimately sent home during the finale, but not before making Costa Rica memories of her own. These no doubt resulted in a bit of awkwardness at the wedding.

During the ceremony, Susan Noles, co-star and officiant, referenced the Costa Rica overnight dates and mentioned how Gerry and Theresa strengthened their relationship on the island, while Gerry mentioned drinking “Costa Rican coffee” with Theresa during his wedding vows.

“It was probably the only time it was uncomfortable for me,” she admitted. “And seeing Theresa so happy, really, kind of, just took that away anyhow.”

Moving on

Frankly, it was a bit surprising that Leslie attended the wedding at all, all things considered. Her elimination shocked both herself and viewers. During the After the Final Rose special, she admitted to feeling blindsided by Gerry’s decision. She claimed that he made her believe he was choosing her.

“You made it sound like you chose me,” she shared at the reunion. “You led me down a path and then took a turn and left me there.” It was later revealed that Gerry had made promises to her about their future while in Costa Rica. He mentioned that he was so excited to start their life together, only to ultimately end up engaged to Theresa.

No one would have faulted Leslie for skipping the nuptials. But, she said that Theresa invited her, and by then, she had processed the heartbreak (even though it took a while) and realized that she was happy Theresa found love because “that’s what we came for.”

Plus, the wedding also served as a chance for Leslie to reunite with her fellow contestants and Bachelor Nation friends.
