Family Karma’s Amrit Kapai Shares Journey to Fatherhood

Can I just say how much I love Family Karma? It may be my favorite Bravo show. The network would make a huge mistake not to renew it for another season. Though Season 4 hasn’t been announced, fans of the show still hope that Bravo will come to its senses.

Season 3 concluded with Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos‘ big, fat, fabulous Indian wedding. The celebration was a four-day extravaganza of food, alcohol, family, friends, parties, dancing, love and laughter. It was a heartwarming display of traditional Indian culture embracing and celebrating the same-sex marriage of a delightful, loving couple.

And now Amrit and Nicholas are hoping to start a family. On January 25, Amrit shared a video on his Instagram of his and Nicholas’ trip to a surrogacy clinic in Bogotá, Colombia.

Journey to fatherhood

“Why is Bogotá so special to us?” a subtitle reads, as Amrit and Nicholas appear to be walking through an airport. The mellow soundtrack of Hollow Coves’ “Coastline” plays in the background, “There’s a place that I’ve dreamed of … “

“It’s not the beautiful mountains,” the video continues. “Or the magical sunsets. Not the charming coffee shops, or the year-round Fall temps.”

“It’s where we’ll start our family,” they announce, as the camera zooms in on a screen that reads “Surrogacy Colombia.” Awwwww! Why isn’t Bravo filming this?! This would be such a wonderfully uplifting storyline. So much better than watching women in designer clothes screeching at each other over stupid crap that nobody cares about.

Next, we see Nicholas leafing through an “Intended Parents Handbook.” A sign on the wall depicts a smiling baby with the caption, “Your best decision.”

Will Family Karma be back?

Even though the show hasn’t been officially renewed, Amrit is confident they’ll be back. “You’re going to see us on TV, hopefully, sooner rather than later,” he told TheWrap back in November 2023. “Frances Berwick, a big name, has said Family Karma is her favorite. We’re excited. We’re optimistic. Representation absolutely matters.”

Frances Berwick, Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, has called Family Karma one of her “personal favorites.”

“In my heart of hearts, I believe we will bring that back at some point,” Berwick said in an interview with Variety. “That show was so multi-generational — those people just were completely authentic.”

Here’s hoping that NBCUniversal and Bravo will see how important it is to bring this show back. The fans want to see Amrit and Nicholas become dads. We also want to see if Brian Benni ever finds a girlfriend, Monica Vaswani finally gets engaged, or Bali Chainani marries her boyfriend O’Malley. Don’t leave us hanging, Bravo!

Seasons 1-3 of Family Karma are available to stream on Peacock.
