We’ve reached the finish line of another season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and after a season full of mama drama, conspiracy theories, and chili cheese Frito insults, things ended on a rather anticlimactic note. And Bravo had the nerve to make it a supersized episode.
When we left off last week, Shamea hosted a Halloween party that went fully off the rails as Angela was forced to confront the rumors she’d been spreading. Some say she was vindicated. Others think she was caught in a lie. Maybe it was a little bit of both?
The ladies definitely had thoughts about all of it in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 17, “Rebels & Outlaws.”
What happened in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 17?
The RHOA Season 17 finale picked up in the aftermath of Shamea’s Halloween party, with some of the ladies still stewing over Angela and Drew’s behavior. Between the sex rumors and the horse, Shamea might think twice before hosting another Halloween party.
Meanwhile, K. Michelle kicked off her country music era with a star-studded album listening party. But Drew, bless her heart, showed up with old receipts and a point to prove. In the end, one Housewife rose, and another fell. Literally.
Shamea is in another crappy situation
Episode 17 kicked off with Shamea, K. Michelle, and Pinky debriefing on the messy antics from the Halloween party. The consensus was that Angela looked “foolish” over the accusations she threw at George the Green-Bearded Lawyer, and that Drew looked equally foolish for declaring Angela vindicated in any of it. Drew earned a second strike when her boytoy showed up with a horse, and she pretended to act surprised by it.
The horse moment was cringey and confusing on its own. But then Shamea revealed she wound up with a $2,200 fine from her HOA because the horse pooped in her yard. Apparently, horse droppings are not allowed in her neighborhood.
So not only is Shamea knee-deep in crap with her castmates, but she’s now also knee-deep in actual horse manure. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: pray for Shamea, because this season has been a struggle from start to finish.
Porsha and Sway made things official
All season long, Porsha has been self-producing her own version of The Bachelorette, bouncing between Sway and Mike, pretending like she couldn’t choose who she wanted to give her final rose to. That charade concluded this week.
In the finale, Sway sat down with Porsha and told her she was tired of being in the love triangle and felt serious about becoming exclusive. When we last saw Mike, he was dropping the “L” word and expressing his desire for kids. Porsha knew she didn’t want any of that, so it was only a matter of time before she ended things.
By the end of the finale, Porsha and Sway had gone Instagram official, and Porsha declared herself “Porsha-sexual.” Fortunately for Mike, he was spared an on-screen breakup. Instead, he found out about Sway and Porsha through Instagram, just like the rest of us. Better luck next time, dude.
K. Michelle finally launched her country era
It feels like it’s been years since we first heard K. Michelle start talking about her country album, and in this episode, it all finally came to fruition. She planned a listening party, invited the entire cast, and delivered one of the few genuine highlights of this finale.
At the listening party, everyone seemed legitimately happy to be in the same room supporting K. She sang a few songs and delivered a touching speech about how joining this friend group and watching these women navigate the highs and lows of their rollercoaster lives had genuinely inspired her.
K’s speech reminded us just how much she’s evolved this season. She’s come a long way from the conspiracy theories she was throwing out at the beginning. It’s like she finally completed her on-the-job training.
The best moment at the party came when K started passing the microphone through the crowd, letting each castmate take a turn singing her song, V.S.O.P. She included the singers, the non-singers, and everyone in between. Just sing!
At first, Drew, who falls under the “singer” category, acted like she didn’t want the mic. However, K was persistent. She wanted everyone to sing, or do something that resembled singing.
Reluctantly, Drew sang a few words. She also told K she loved her, and for a brief, shining moment, it seemed like the season was going to end on a sisterly note. Then, the performance ended, and the vibe completely shifted.
Drew took a tumble during the final moments of Season 17
Season 17 could have ended on K. Michelle’s speech and her musical number. It would have been a perfectly fine note to go out on with a moment of sisterhood before they rip each other apart at the reunion. Instead, the cameras kept rolling, and Drew apparently took that as her cue to start some drama. She decided it was time to relitigate the Blakk situation. That felt like a baffling move considering it’s been at least ten episodes since anyone brought up this man’s name.
K continued to claim that she didn’t know Blakk, but Drew pulled out a screenshot showing that K replied to a DM from Blakk and called him handsome. Drew whipped out the screenshot and showed it to K like it was some sort of big smoking gun. She genuinely thought she had a “gotcha” moment.
When confronted with the screenshot, K thought it was ridiculous, and honestly? Same. Drew and K made up in Scotland. Drew isn’t even claiming Blakk as a romantic partner. Why is she arguing about him now?
Whatever the motivation was, the needless argument escalated with K. Michelle’s fans in the crowd screaming at Drew to leave. Somehow in the chaos, Drew wound up falling on the floor. Housewife down!
Did an overzealous security guard push her, or did she trip over her own pants? The answer depends entirely on Drew’s mood because she told the story in a few different ways.
Whichever way Drew got on the floor, she got up quickly, and we can all thank her for providing a spectacle during the final moments of this finale, even if it felt completely unnecessary. The love-hate dynamic between her and K. Michelle will live to see another day, and if they’re both lucky, another season.
