Race to Survive: New Zealand Trailer Revealed

If you’re looking for a high-octane competition, USA Network has us covered this summer. They just announced Season 2 of Race to Survive, and this season, they’re taking the action down under. Race to Survive: New Zealand is coming a little later this year.

If you haven’t watched Race to Survive, at first glance, you’re probably thinking that this show is just an off-brand version of The Amazing Race. However, Race to Survice is a little bit different because not only do the competitors have to fight to the finish line, but they also have to utilize survival skills to make it across. It’s a lot more realistic, rather than relying on gimmicks.

This competition is no joke, and the trailer shows just how intense this competition is going to get in Season 2.

New season, new continent

Season 1 of Race to Survive took place in Alaska. In Season 2, the competitors will have to trek across 150 miles of New Zealand’s toughest terrain. Throughout the competition, they’ll have to source their food and water. It’s a game of endurance, but as the title suggests, it’s also a game of survival.

In the trailer, we get a little bit of a glimpse into the action. There are clips of the competitors sliding down snowy mountains, kayaking through choppy waters, and dangling off cliffsides from extreme heights. It’s not for the faint of heart, and one contestant said they’d be willing to risk it all for the prize.

Race to Survive: New Zealand is bringing together nine teams of two from all sorts of diverse backgrounds. One of the teams consists of oil riggers; another team boasts a set of ultramarathoners. There’s even a divorced couple competing, which is guaranteed to make for some interesting reality TV. Ultimately, the winning team will take home a prize of $500,000. That’s almost enough cash to make all of the suffering worth it.

“I will throw myself down a cliff to get to number one,” one of the competitors confidently remarked in the sneak peek of Season 2.

Race to Survive: New Zealand premieres on USA Network on Monday, May 20 at 9/8c. Season 1 is streaming on Peacock.
