If Meghan Markle breathes the wrong way, there are going to be at least a thousand angry people sending her hate on social media. So when Netflix premiered her lifestyle show, the backlash was swift. We don’t understand it, and apparently, neither does Sandra Lee.
The former host of Semi-Homemade Cooking recently weighed in on the With Love, Meghan controversy. She gave the Duchess kudos for her new lifestyle show, and she said she couldn’t figure out why so many people were being harsh towards her.
Sandra Lee doesn’t think Meghan Markle’s Netflix show deserved such hate
With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix on March 4, 2025. By noon on March 5, Meghan had received a tidal wave of negativity. To this day, people are still picking apart every single second of the show, criticizing her on anything and everything.
With that in mind, Us Weekly recently asked Sandra for her thoughts on the show. The longtime TV chef had nothing but nice things to say about the Duchess of Sussex. No shade here!
“I was actually surprised about the backlash to the show. It didn’t seem fair,” Sandra told the outlet.
Sandra, whose previous show consisted of over-the-top tablescapes and extra-boozy cocktails, is no stranger to criticism. However, even she couldn’t understand why people were so up in arms about Meghan’s seemingly innocent show.
“[I’ve been] in the lifestyle space for years,” Sandra noted. “We have mixed relatable and unrepeatable elements [too].”
Sandra applauded the show for its filmography and production design. She said the series felt like “calming, serene content,” which makes it even more bizarre that people had such a negative reaction.
“I’m happy for her. Her crew is doing a great job,” Sandra added.
Despite the negativity, Netflix has renewed With Love, Meghan for a Season 2. Obviously, Sandra’s excited about it, and she shared some words of support for her fellow lifestyle guru.
“Keep on going, and inspire people to make beautiful things,” Sandra said.
With Love, Meghan is streaming on Netflix.
