A new reality competition TV show with an interesting premise is headed our way. NBC’s new series, Destination X, will debut in May. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who starred in Supernatural and The Walking Dead, is the host. He will head up “the ultimate geo-guessing contest.” The competitors will be taking part in a wild adventure, with one big twist. The contestants “will travel on a blacked-out ‘Destination X’ bus with the goal of figuring out where the ‘X’ they are each week.” And there will be three well-known faces among the players.
Destination X is a reality TV show unlike any other
The trailer for Destination X just dropped, and the show looks fascinating. It looks like it is in the same vein as The Amazing Race, with just a sprinkle of tension like Deal or No Deal Island. The 12 contestants will travel to European locations, hoping to answer the question, “Where the ‘X’ are we?” Of course, there is a $250,000 prize on the line.
“You have no idea where in the world you really are. No map, no plan, no clues,” Jeffrey said at the beginning of the trailer. Later, he advised the contestants, “In this game, information is everything.” Meanwhile, contestants can “team up or fly solo.” He added, “To win a quarter of a million dollars, there’s one simple question. Where the X,X,X,X am I?”
Every episode brings the contestants to “unique and unfamiliar tourist attractions that have been gamified into experiential challenges,” per the synopses. Players must locate hidden clues, compete in challenges, and figure out if their cast members are leading them astray.
Then, each player must put an X on a map, and the player whose guess is furthest from the correct location is sent home. PEOPLE reported that former Bachelor star Peter Weber, JaNa Craig from Love Island USA, and Josh Martinez from Big Brother and The Challenge are part of the globe-trotting cast.
Destination X premieres on Tuesday, May 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
