There is something about having that one friend who’s seen you go through some major life changes. We have all those special one or two people in our lives. That’s why it is so nice to watch Zack Wickham and Brittany Carwright’s friendship get back on track. The duo has been best friends for the last 17 years. As each other’s ride or dies, they’ve navigated their moves to LA and always shown up for one another.
Brittany Cartwright reveals Zack Wickham took care of her after surgery
Jax Taylor has never been one to actively help out someone other than himself. But fans were upset to learn that he would body shame his wife. In episode 2, Brittany revealed, “He would talk about my body all the time. I’ve got stretch marks from having his son. He would say that I looked like a tree trunk … He would say it in front of my friends. And he never wanted me to vent to my friends, so he would try to make me feel like I don’t have any friends.” The mother of one added, “He was treating me so bad … I guess he wasn’t attracted to me anymore or something, and he, like, let me know it.” So it didn’t necessarily come as a surprise to learn that when B wanted to have surgery to get her sparkle back, Jax was nowhere to be found.
Instead, it was Zack to the rescue. On her podcast, When Reality Hits, Brittany acknowledged that her best friend supported her in ways that her husband failed at. She shared that Zack was the one who came to take care of her after she had her AirSculpt+ surgery and skin tightening procedure. She also noted that Zack was in the operating room, making sure she was okay. In fact, Brittany even shared that Jax left her because he was going to film Vanderpump Rules at that time.
Why are The Valley’s Zack Wickham and Brittany Cartwright at odds?
To be honest, Zack and Brittany’s fight has always been confusing. The duo came into The Valley Season 1 as best friends. Both hailed from Kentucky and formed quite the unbreakable bond, until it was broken. And from all my research, the issues seemed to stem from B getting closer to Janet Caperna. Zack’s feelings of exclusion and their history of a strained friendship only fueled the fire. Fans will recall that Janet didn’t invite Zack to her baby shower in Big Bear, which led to multiple misunderstandings.
It definitely didn’t help that Zack also compared Janet to Jax, insinuating she was only trying to seek attention. During the Season 1 finale, Zack vented about his issues with Janet to Brittany. She, in turn, ran and told Janet those sentiments. The feeling of betrayal didn’t sit well with Zack as he felt like he had been an extremely good friend to Brittany over the years. This caused Zack to lose a bit of trust and faith in Britt. However, Season 2 shows the duo taking steps to fix their fractured friendship.

Thankfully, Brittany and Zack look like they are on the road to reconciliation. In Episode 2 of The Valley, Zack opened up about why he had been made to feel a certain way. After he played with Cruz in the pool, Zack got serious with Brittany. He shared that he felt like she chose Janet over him, leaving him hurt and confused. Thankfully, Brittany apologized for her actions and reassured her best friend that they were still okay. Both seemed to breathe a sigh of relief as they got their feelings off their chest. Almost immediately, the pair began to laugh again like old times.
For his part, Zack has never stopped defending Brittany. In 2024, Zack commented on an Instagram post that was bashing Brittany. At the time, B had turned Jax’s Studio City into Britt’s Bar. He wrote, “You are very clearly an amazing woman and have had a heart of gold for years. This does not seem like something your mind would conjure up. Your family and child are more important than this. Your [son’s] dad needs your support [whether] it’s as a wife or simply a [co-parent].” The pair also recently spent time together on vacation in Hawaii. Personally, I’m thrilled to see these two peas in a pod get back on track.
