The Bravoverse is teeming with excitement for another addition to the network with the introduction of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island. However, it doesn’t mean everyone is thrilled with the news. It turns out some locals feel it is a very bad idea for their slice of heaven. Here’s what we know.
Do residents want Real Housewives of Rhode Island?
Earlier this week, The Providence Journal reported that some neighbors of the soon-to-be-franchise are wishing Bravo never planted their flag in their quaint town. The outlet questioned if the new show will be “a source for embarrassment for the Ocean State.” The president and CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, Kristin Adamo, noted, “I am cautiously optimistic about ‘The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. She added, “I’m hoping they show the beauty of the state. And the accomplishments of these women. But I have seen episodes of the other shows and it doesn’t always go that way.” Undoubtedly, Kristin is referring to those screaming matches that have become synonymous with the Real Housewives franchises. “I think once we see a few episodes, we will know the tone. And decide if it will be useful in tourism marketing.”
Governor Dan McKee and House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi all felt the announcement was positive for their state, with hopes that it would highlight the state’s vast history. However, some resident took to social media to air their grievances. One worried resident took to Bluesky asking, “Has anyone currently residing in the state of Rhode Island ever seen this show?!? Whew, this will be a rude awakening for the tourism bureau.” However, Steve Feinberg, the executive director of Rhode Island Film and Television, notes Bravo won’t be given any tax breaks. Seeing the glass as half full, he noted, “It’s great promotion to a worldwide audience. It will absolutely attract more tourists to Rhode Island, there’s no question.”
