There is no peace in Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The group is splintered amid the feud between Taylor Frankie Paul, and Demi Engemann. While the MomTok influencers are torn by this feud, some of Demi’s behavior is unsettling to the group. And even her former bestie, Jessi Ngatikaura, was casually pushed under the bus by Demi. So, where do Demi and Jessi stand now?
Is the friendship between Jessi Ngatikaura and “bully” Demi Engemann over?
Jessi and her co-star, Layla Taylor, were guests on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-tea podcast. And they spilled all the dirty soda about Demi. Most importantly, Jessi revealed that Demi targeted her family and her business. For instance, she told Taylor not to go to Jessi’s hair salon. And during contract negotiations, Demi was fine with Jessi leaving the show if she received more money. Ouch!
“It was a slow burn, though,” Jessi explained. “You’ll see. Like, we were … really close and then it kind of just naturally … like, things start coming out and you’ll see the friendship start to break apart.” The hairstylist and owner of JZ Styles added, “And in real life, it’s just getting worse and worse.”
Layla stated, “Season 1, she was already kind of showing some characteristics that were honestly borderline bullying in some scenarios. But we always kind of brushed that under the rug, and we’re like, ‘Oh, she’s passionate,’ or, ‘She’s funny.’”
And Jessi co-signed Layla’s feelings about Demi. “Whitney [Leavitt] was the victim of [Engemann’s behavior], and we hated Whitney. So we were like, ‘Go, Demi!’” Jessi said. “And if you watch it with a new lens now, she was kind of a bully to Whitney in Park City. And we’ve now seen it to more people, ourselves included. So that’s a characteristic,” she added.
As for Demi and Jessi’s friendship? Jessi shared that because of Demi’s “unforgivable” actions, their friendship is “done for good.”
