Believe me, Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is messy. Some secrets about Demi came out, making the other Mormon moms wary of her. Plus, her friendship with bestie Jessi Ngatikaura fell apart.
Meanwhile, Demi called out Taylor’s erratic behavior, alleging that Taylor was ruining MomTok and casting a shadow over all of their businesses. Well, during the Arizona girls’ trip, viewers discovered that Demi was willing to toss her bestie Jessi off the show if she could get a pay increase. Yikes! While this incident happened while the two ladies weren’t on good terms, it is still an ice-cold move. Even icier was Demi’s rationale for Jessi to exit the show. Since Jessi has her salon, JZ Styles, Demi felt that Jessi was financially set. According to Demi, Jessi’s refusal to exit the show “felt a little selfish to me.” As if trying to get your bestie off the show wasn’t a selfish move.
Meanwhile, Demi’s willingness to cut her best friend loose to achieve a bigger pay day upset Taylor. “It gave me a bad taste … given that’s her best friend,” Taylor said in a confessional. It seemed like Taylor’s concerns that Demi had become power-hungry and driven by money were valid.
When Taylor asked Demi why she thought that she deserved the best brand partnerships, Demi’s response was simple. “It’s not a shock that I was a fan favorite,” she stated. “Like, I feel like I’m an asset. I should fight for more.” WOW. Plus, Taylor didn’t hesitate to bring up a rumor that Demi’s husband, Bret Engemann, allegedly cheated on her. Demi dismissed the gossip, but Taylor was skeptical about the couple’s perfect marriage.

All hell broke loose when Taylor was asked to present an award at the Country Music Awards (CMAs). First off, it seems like Demi is jealous whenever one of the MomTok members has some success. When Mayci Neeley announced her book deal, Demi was the only person who didn’t look thrilled. And when Layla Taylor and Taylor went to New York City for a brand collaboration, Demi texted Layla, asking how much she was paid. It is reasonable to assume that Demi wasn’t happy that Taylor was asked to be part of the CMAs and walk the red carpet.
So, while some of the MomTok members privately congratulated Taylor, no one from MomTok publicly commented on Taylor’s post about the CMAs. This led to Taylor calling them all out publicly. In turn, Taylor’s online supporters called the group bad friends. Meanwhile, Demi responded when her followers bashed Taylor, seeming to support their comments.
Eventually, Taylor apologized in a group text, but Demi rejected her apology. “We’re supposed to now bow down to the leader who brought us this opportunity, when we’re getting treated like sh*t online, in public,” Demi said. In Demi’s eyes, Taylor was tarnishing Momtok, and in turn, potentially hurting all their businesses. And that made Taylor a liability.

Of course, Taylor and Demi’s feud boiled over at the Saints and Sinners party. Taylor called Demi a “bully” and “fake.” Then she shared with Jessi exactly how she knew Demi was fake. It turns out that Demi told Taylor not to go to Jessi’s salon to have her hair done. Well, Demi admitted to saying it, but she clarified that she meant that she didn’t know how the salon did with color, but they were great with extensions. Oof.
Of course, this was news to Jessi, who felt betrayed that Demi wasn’t supporting her or her business. What kind of friend would do that? So, Demi then called Taylor “a narcissist” and alluded to the night when she was arrested for domestic violence. She also mentioned Taylor’s infant son, Ever.
During Season 1, Taylor was arrested after a drunken argument with her then-boyfriend, and Ever’s daddy, Dakota Mortensen. Demi’s comment rocked Taylor because she was bringing up the most painful moment of Taylor’s life. And Taylor didn’t take Demi’s remarks lightly. To bring up Taylor’s children and hint that she wasn’t a good mother was crossing a line.

After the argument at the Saints and Sinners party, Taylor bailed on the girls’ trip to New Orleans. Her decision was music to Demi’s ears. During the trip, Demi spent most of her time trying to convince the rest of the ladies that Taylor was giving zero energy to MomTok. And, more importantly, she was hurting the group and possibly their businesses. In the end, Demi thought that Taylor didn’t deserve to be the leader of MomTok. I wonder who Demi has in mind for a replacement?
Then Demi threw an elegant Christmas party and uninvited Taylor. However, Taylor’s mom, Liann, showed up with a gift for Demi. Was it wrong for Taylor to send her mom to fight her battles? Yes. Was it petty and hilarious that the gift was a box of JZ Styles products? Also yes.
In the end, Demi screamed at Liann and swore at her. This didn’t sit well with the group, and they were horrified by Demi’s behavior. Except for Whitney Leavitt, who was clinging to Demi as her way back into MomTok.
At the MomTok meeting, Taylor and Demi’s feud came to a head. Demi had previously stated that if Taylor stayed in MomTok, then she would leave. Welp, Taylor made it plain that she wasn’t going anywhere.
In a move that stunned Demi, no one supported ousting Taylor from the group. So, Demi decided to take a break and leave MomTok. Of course, we don’t know if Taylor and Demi will resolve this feud and make amends in the future. But it doesn’t look promising.
