As if Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt haven’t suffered enough this year, now they’re having to fight against trolls making fun of a wig she recently wore. The Hills alums are getting dragged on social media after walking the red carpet at the 2025 American Music Awards, with Heidi wearing what some have called a “Party City wig.”

The 2025 AMAs were a mess in their own right, but one of the most viral moments happened when Heidi and Spencer waltzed down the carpet. The couple has been documenting the painful process of rebuilding their lives after the California wildfires destroyed their home, but they were all smiles at the AMAs. That is, until they got home and saw what people were saying about Heidi’s wig.
“I love love love her, but you should’ve stopped that wig,” wrote one fan in his comments. Meanwhile, Page Six ran an article with the headline, “Heidi Montag dragged for wearing ‘world’s worst’ wig to AMAs 2025: ‘From Party City.'”
Spencer, who never hesitates to stand up for his wife, quickly clapped back both on his TikTok and Instagram. He wanted to remind the world that he loves Heidi regardless of the wig she’s wearing.
“For the wig haters, please pre order HEIDIWOOD now so that future wigs have more budget ❤️,” Spencer wrote on Instagram.
HEIDIWOOD is Heidi’s upcoming album, building off the recent success of her Superficial album. After losing everything in the wildfires, fans supported the couple by revisiting the 15-year-old album.
Of course, everyone has a bad day here and there. Some people have them every day, so Speidi are taking all of this in jest. In a TikTok, Spencer reiterated just how happy they were to be at the AMAs in the first place.
“A lot of people loved the wig. A lot of people didn’t love it so much, but you know what, we’re very thankful to be at the American Music Awards and having anyone talking about Heidi’s hair. What a blessing,” Spencer said.
“We don’t have [a] $20,000 wig budget,” he continued. “So it’s a cute little wig for the money we can afford for a wig. It was just supposed to be a fun little ‘Oh look at the wig.’ And it worked, I guess.”
