Bravo fans are still trying to figure out why Family Karma was ever cancelled. The show had everything- family connections, tradition, and wholesome drama. But somehow, the network gods thought that the show should be put on hiatus. Even with the sad news, fans have kept an eye on the cast. And recently noted that Monica Vaswani was very single. So what’s going on with her fairytale romance? Here’s what we know.
When did Monica Vaswani become engaged?
For multiple seasons, Family Karma fans watched Monica search for her soulmate. Viewers thought it might be Brian Benni, but as time went on, it was clear the duo were better off as friends. But somewhere between the Miami night scene and her dance class, Monica found love in Rish Karam. She told Brown Girl Magazine that the engagement “was quite a surprise, actually. Rishi told me we were attending a Merrill Lynch private banking event, but we ended up in a beautiful courtyard with a harp player playing Indian music. That’s when I realized what was happening. It was a private and special moment between us, and I’m grateful for that. The engagement sign in our suite at The Breakers in Palm Beach was the moment it all sank in. It was when it all felt real, different, and so wonderful all at the same time!”
However, the last season of Family Karma showed the pair fighting against infidelity rumors. More than one person in their group of friends voiced their concerns when it came to Rish. At the time, Monica told Bravo cameras, “To be honest, by 30 I thought that I would be starting this next chapter, be married, have children.” In her confessional, she added, “Maybe I do need to shake things up because this is the first time in my life where I feel like I don’t know where my life is potentially headed.” During Season 3 Rish was accused more than once about posisble cheating allegations.
Why did Monica Vaswani and Rish Karam call off their engagement?
On June 1, Monica took to her Instagram Story to drop some major tea. Family Karma fans mostly know Monica as a demure member of the cast who didn’t like to start trouble. However, she was all about stirring the pot when it came to sounding off about her failed engagement. Alongside a photo that showed multiple unopened condoms, she wrote, “So done with all the lies.” She added, “This isn’t the same girl that was blinded by you while filming. Do you think I was that dumb.” She then tagged Rish in her post.
Monica also went on to allege that she had received multiple DMs regarding Rish’s bad behavior. She shared some of those condemning messages. One seemed to be written from a woman he had slept with. It read, “We kissed. He said he was single. Wanted to see me today. Good luck.” However, the message from the unknown woman wasn’t the only one. But Monica kept her intentions short and sweet.
Rish Karam claps back
After Monica’s outing of his possible bad behavior, Rish was quick to hit back. The Miami native claimed he was not disloyal and was, in fact, single. Rish took to his Instagram Story to state his own case. He noted, “Monica Vaswani and I have not been together for over a month. She entered my apartment unannounced and without my permission while I was traveling out of the country.” The Family Karma star added that she “went through my personal belongings and took out-of-context photos to post on social media.”
The entire situation seems quite diabolical if you ask me. Rish had more to say in his statement. “I never cheated on her and only wanted to give her my absolute best while we were in a relationship” he added. “It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out, and she asked me to not openly talk about us splitting up as she needed time to process.” Well, it looks like Monica has taken the time she needed and is mad. Rish concluded his message writing, “Unfortunately, my kindness was taken advantage of, and she took control of the narrative, which is manipulative, unacceptable, and disgusting.” Rish even uploaded a screenshot allegedly showing footage of Monica’s parents in his apartment. It’s safe to say this breakup did not go well.
