It’s rare to say that the Brown family from Sister Wives has done the classy thing. But that finally seems to be the case when it comes to how they handled the death of Kody Brown and Janelle Brown’s son Garrison Brown. The loss was tragic for the whole family and for once they seemed to be united in how they addressed it (or didn’t address it) on the show.
On March 5, 2024, Garrison tragically took his own life. The shockwaves from his death rocked the whole family. However, instead of splashing it everywhere and sensationalizing such a painful moment in their lives, the Brown family opted not to discuss Garrison’s death at length on the show. They chose a fitting tribute instead.
The Sister Wives Tell-All team “found out that day” that Garrison Brown’s death wouldn’t be talked about
And this continued during the Tell-All too. Garrison’s death was a no-go. Host Sukanya “Suki” Krishan and her team found out on the day that they would be talking about Garrison during the interviews.
Suki talked about it a bit on the Sarah Fraser Show podcast. In the episode, Sarah spoke with Suki about her experiences interviewing the Brown family. She touched on the unique family dynamic, how she created a safe space, and why she didn’t touch on Garrison’s passing.
“How did you find out Garrison would not be covered in the Tell All?”
“We found out that day that they did not want to go there,” Suki shared. “That is why at the top of the show, I gave my condolences.”
She added, “TLC did a beautiful job in honoring him in the way they could, and I applaud them. It is difficult, but also as a network for the line of respect and understanding but also giving out the information. I do not know what people want. There is enough tragedy, sorrow, and sadness surrounding that.”
Sister Wives has definitely had its share of ups and downs. But it looks like they want to prevent Garrison’s death from being part of the circus. They did their best to mourn him respectfully and not just talk about his passing but celebrate his life too.
Sister Wives is streaming on TLC.
