Since the demise of the polygamous family, Kody Brown has continued to be disliked by his former wives. The father of 18 has done his best to play the victim and loves pushing the blame onto others instead of taking accountability. During the recent Sister Wives Tell-All, his first three wives started to call out his bad behavior, especially when it came to his personal attacks. Here’s what we know.
Janelle Brown doesn’t like Kody Brown
It’s official, Janelle Brown is over Kody. It only took almost three decades of marriage. But the mother of six finally has the ick. Janelle made it clear that she was setting the record straight regarding Kody and his fourth wife, Robyn Brown. She told viewers, “I can still be very friendly with Kody. I never really had much of a relationship with Robyn. I don’t have any hate or hard feelings or anything. I just don’t really want to know them.” Janelle was still classy as she added, “I could sit and talk to them. That would be fine. If it was all superficial. I would be fine if we, you know, I would talk to them. That’s no big deal.”
But it is clear Janelle has drawn her own boundaries with her former husband and his favorite wife. After an extremely rough year, Janelle is looking for peace, not chaos. She told the host, “I’m just not going to be buddies with them or, like, go to lunch with them. I don’t need it. I don’t want it. I’m not looking for it.” The Sister Wives star bluntly summed up her feelings, noting, “I really just don’t like them. I don’t want to know them. I don’t want to be friends with them. I just don’t like them.”
The Sister Wives thinks Kody Brown attacked where it hurt
Now that Janelle is safely away from the grasp of Kody, she is more at liberty to speak out against him. While discussing their marriage, she shared that Kody “attacked all of his wives that are leaving, in the area that hurts them the most or that they pride themselves on or that they value.” Honestly, it totally sounds like a Kody thing to do. In her case, Janelle revealed that Kody was “always telling everybody that I was somehow calling the shots on the money” because he knew it upset her. Janelle added, “I’m one of those people who wants to be very fiscally responsible and very about, like, ‘Let’s be responsible with our money.’ So, he wants to, like, sort of undermine that or try to undermine that for me.”
For Janelle, “It’s wild to me that he was telling everybody that I was in charge.” As the Tell-All went on, TLC viewers learned that each Brown family member had their own take on how the communal money was spent and saved. Kody told the host that Janelle was in control because she was the one sending their books to the accountant. But Janelle doubled down, noting if that was true, she would have paid off Coyote Pass much earlier.
The Browns will never recover
In one episode, Meri Brown noted, “I don’t know if they don’t remember, like, when our funds were all together and those family funds that I helped with went to the kids’ college, went to property. It went to everything. We had a family fund.” With each story varying, it’s clear to see that Kody and his former wives are not seeing eye to eye. The family has suffered blow after blow, with Sister Wives fans doubting they will ever recover. Christine Brown backed up Janelle’s sentiment. The newlywed added, “With her, with finances, he was knocking her down so she doesn’t feel smart. That’s rude. He knows the buttons to push.”
Kody never played fair, and that’s what made it so hard to stay married to him. Once Janelle, Christine, and Meri all figured out that the grass was actually greener on the other side, there was no turning back. If Kody continues to play by his own rules, it stands to reason that Robyn might become tired of his antics. But at least if they divorce, Kody will know how to make her tick.
Sister Wives is available to stream on TLC.
