Why The Valley Cast Is Trying To ‘Rat Out’ Kristen Doute

Kristen Doute is no stranger to drama. She practically wrote the playbook on chaotic Bravo energy back on Vanderpump Rules. But on The Valley, Kristen isn’t just bringing the drama. She might be the only one keeping this show interesting. So why does she feel like the rest of the cast is suddenly out to get her? From passive-aggressive group chats to shady confessionals, some of the cast members seem to have made Kristen their latest target. And while Kristen has never been perfect, not even close – the effort to ice her out feels a little too coordinated to be a coincidence.

Kristen said it herself, she’s dealing with “minions.” And honestly? She’s not wrong. This season has seen a growing alliance of cast members who seem more interested in policing Kristen’s every move than dealing with their own messy lives. While on a recent Vanderpod Recaps podcast, she tried to break down the on-going drama without breaking her NDA. She told listeners, “I wanted to just give a little PSA about The Valley. Because, guys, I wish I could answer your questions about The Valley. I wish we could give our opinions about it, especially now that the After Show is airing. I wish we could rebuttal all day long, but we cannot do it on this podcast. We are not allowed to discuss The Valley or the After Show.”

Whether it’s Janet Caperna turning every conversation into a group intervention or Jasmine Goode trying to place the blame on the OG, the energy is off. Instead of confronting Kristen directly, they whisper in corners, stir the pot in private, and then act shocked when Kristen explodes. Kristen noted, “In fact, I feel like there might be a couple of cast members and their minions that are listening to this right now and typing ‘Valley’ in the transcript search of our podcast just to see if they can rat on me. I’m not joking,” she said. “But as much as I would love personally to defend myself, to defend my friends, give my thoughts, this podcast, we are not allowed to do that.”

Why would The Valley cast want to get rid of Kristen Doute?

Kristen continued, “Hopefully, they figure something different out with the After Show next year. We are allowed to do it on other people’s podcasts or press. So that’s the only way that you’ll get to hear about that. I would love to speak my piece, but we’re just not allowed to, per higher-ups.” The entire issue is giving high school lunchroom politics, and Kristen knows it. As a long-time fan, I know Kristen is the main character. For years, she has brought the chaos, the heart, and the Bravo-level breakdowns that keep this show watchable. And that might be exactly why the cast wants her gone.

After doing a full psychological deep dive, Kristen has reality TV instincts that most of the newbies crave. The new mother knows how to move a storyline along, and she knows when to stir the pot. She also knows how to make a bad moment into good television. All of that makes her a threat. Not just to the group dynamic, but to anyone gunning for the spotlight (I’m looking at you, Janet). There’s also the fact that Kristen doesn’t play by the rules. She’s not afraid to call out hypocrisy, even if it means burning a few bridges. And goodness knows fans love to watch a bridge burn.

Kristen Doute has been the unsung hero

If anyone deserved a second chance with Bravo, it was Kristen. After being fired, she’s done the hard work and educated herself. And say what you want about Kristen, but she’s one of the reasons The Valley has any emotional depth. While other cast members are busy shading each other in confessionals and pretending everything is fine, Kristen is out there on the front lines apologizing, oversharing, and actually doing the work. She’s not just a former SURver with a Bravo resumé. She’s the emotional glue holding this chaos together.

When Season 2 first started, she went out of her way to chat in circles with Janet. She has been a friend by Brittany Cartwright’s side as she filed for divorce. And she even mended bridges with Jesse Lally. That’s not just good TV. That’s real. And in a cast full of people trying to be the voice of reason, Kristen is the only one giving the full spectrum of reality. Of course, that doesn’t mean she’s always right. Kristen still has a habit of self-sabotage, and her delivery can be explosive. But at least it’s authentic. And that’s more than we can say for the people trying to vote her off the island, aka The Valley.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
