Love Island USA Season 7 sure keeps viewers on their toes! This year, Love Island USA producers decided to switch things up with Casa Amor. Casa is always the most shocking part of every Love Island season. But Season 7’s Casa Amor twist resulted in two Islanders getting eliminated. And two OG, fan favorite Islanders at that! It seemed like yet another of the baffling decisions that turned Love Island USA Season 7 from the summer’s hottest show to a total trainwreck. However, a last-minute twist revealed this story wasn’t over just yet. But what happens next? Here’s what we think as the internet is buzzing with theories.
How does the Love Island USA Casa Amor elimination work?
From the beginning of Casa Amor, host Ariana Madix revealed Love Island USA was doing things differently this year. Usually contestants are still in a couple when they enter Casa Amor. This leads to some explosive Casa Amor recoupling episodes. This year, however, Ariana announced that contestants would enter a new couple with one of the Casa Amor bombshells within the first 24 hours. However, if someone failed to make a new connection after the first 24 hours of Casa, they were at risk.
Ultimately, Nic Basteenberghe and Olandria Carthen were left standing solo. Olandria was initially coupled up in Casa with Zak Srakaew. However, she mostly missed her man from the villa, Taylor Williams. Zak ended up forming a connection with Amaya Espinal instead.
Meanwhile, Nic was also in a long term couple, in his case with Cierra Ortega. But Nic was more open to exploring with the Casa girls. He certainly put the effort in, especially with Jaden Duggar. But the Casa girls ended up choosing the other villa guys instead.
Nic and Olandria were both OGs who formed very close friendships with their fellow Islanders. So, there were a lot of tears from the guys and the girls when they were seemingly eliminated. Both Nic and Olandria were sent home … or so it initially seemed.
Are Nic and Olandria really gone?
Likewise, viewers were shocked. After sending OG Jeremiah Brown home caused so much controversy, it seemed like a baffling move on production’s part. But if any viewer closed Peacock in frustration just as Nic started to leave, they missed a moment that might change everything.
The first hint something was up was when the show continued to follow Nic for a while as he rolled his white suitcase out of the villa. This was intercut with shots of a car winding down the road from Casa. When the car reached the villa just as Nic walked out, the door opened to reveal Olandria. She told a shocked Nic to hurry up and get in the car. He smiled as he ran towards her, and they left together as the car drove away. It felt like a post-credits scene of a Marvel movie or something.
Even before this last minute scene, viewers had a sense there might be another twist. Olandria’s text notably said she was eliminated from Casa Amor, indicating not necessarily from the show overall. The biggest hint came from the official Love Island USA Instagram, which posted the video with the caption “More to come…”
What happens after this Love Island USA Casa Amor elimination twist? Our theories
One theory is that Nic and Olandria will enter the two seperate villas as bombshells. Meaning Nic will head to the Casa villa where the girls are, whereas Olandria will enter the original villa where the guys are staying. Another theory is that Nic and Olandria will reenter the villa as bombshells, but not until after the Casa Amor recoupling.
Yet another theory is that Nic and Olandria will return as a couple themselves. While they haven’t coupled up on the show so far, there is a large portion of the fandom that ships them together as “Nicolandria.” Megan Thee Stallion even admitted she’s a Nicolandria shipper after her surprise Love Island USA appearance.
Finally, another theory suggests that Nic and Olandria are going to return to the villa, but not as contestants. Instead, they’ll return to pass judgement on their fellow Islanders. Love Island UK had a similar twist in Season 11. Most of the eliminated Islanders returned to vote for the least compatible couple. It’s how Love Island UK Season 11’s villain, Joey Essex, was finally eliminated. Love Island USA fans hoped other eliminated islanders would return. Especially Jeremiah, Hannah Fields, and Charlie Georgiou. Is this how fans would get their wish?
Clearly, there’s a lot of possibilities on the table. No matter what happens, this is an unprecedented move for Love Island USA. We’ll have to keep watching to see what happens next. And if any of these theories come true.
