Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s winery showdown is imminent — report
US Weekly recently revealed details from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s showdown over their winery, yet another legal battle after their divorce was finalized late last year. The exclusive report mentioned that the Oscar-winning actor believes a jury trial concerning their feud over the French winery called Miraval is imminent. In addition, he expects the courtroom proceedings to last for 15 days, although there’s no set trial date.
Pitt noted the upcoming trial is “complex,” owing to the involvement of multiple foreign parties. The case stemmed from his 2022 lawsuit accusing his ex-wife of illegally selling her shares in the winery they bought together in 2008. Pitt claimed they had plans of passing it down to their children and continuing to hold on to their respective stakes following their split in 2016.
However, in 2021, Jolie cited a lack of considerate behavior and “no interest in sharing the business,” among other things, as wanting an exit. They initially even worked out a deal by which he would buy her stake in the estate, but Pitt claimed she backed out after he proposed a non-disparagement agreement. The 50-year-old alleged that he intended to cover up “abuse” using the NDA.
In his lawsuit, Brad Pitt argued that his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group, owned and controlled by Yuri Shefler, a Russian billionaire. He alleged that the deal occurred without his approval, claiming it was against what they had agreed to. Pitt even mentioned an attempt at a hostile takeover of the French winery.
Meanwhile, Jolie denied Pitt’s allegations and any wrongdoing. She further argued that they didn’t have any agreement in place that required his approval in order to sell her stake in the estate.
