Charlie Zakkour is certainly making the rounds on Next Gen NYC. He has been beefing with everyone and earning that “bad boy” persona. Castmate Gia Giudice shared that she thinks that his behavior likely stems from childhood trauma.
A lot of people tend to blame bad behavior on their parents. But in Charlie’s case, it might actually be true. Fans met his parents on the show and his dad is quite the character. In fact, Charlie has likened his dad to the one in Succession and not in a good way. And Gia thinks that this toxic relationship has contributed to Charlie’s own toxic behavior.
Gia isn’t defending Next Gen NYC co-star Charlie, “but…”
Gia appeared on the The Viall Files podcast and discussed many topics ranging from Georgia (McCann’s) parties and her reaction to her mom’s recent interview. She also shared her thoughts on Charlie’s bad behavior and why she thinks he acts out.
“What are your thoughts on Trust Fund Charlie, that’s what we’ve been calling him,” Nick Viall asked Gia.
“It’s very difficult,” Gia answered honestly. “Because the way Charlie acts, he’s new to this whole thing.” She added that she wasn’t sticking up for him or excusing his behavior, but she knows better than anyone what reality TV can be like.
“I think it (his behavior) stems from childhood trauma,” Gia continued. “And I really do think that his actions come from the way that he was raised. And he was never loved and nurtured in his household.”
She further explained. “So that’s why I think he feels it’s okay to act so abrasive and act out on people.” She added that it might have helped if Charlie had taken therapy seriously or worked on controlling his emotions at a young age. But Gia thinks it’s too late now as he’s turning 30. “He’s not changing,” she said.
Gia thinks this is truly Charlie and not him performing for the show. She mentioned his argument with Georgia and pointed out that Charlie has no filter and didn’t care about the cameras or who was around. He just said what he wanted to without thinking.
“The Charlie you see on Next Gen is definitely Charlie,” Gia concluded.
Next Gen NYC is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
