Prince Harry has reportedly been snubbed from King Charles’ funeral plans. The Duke of Sussex will receive an invitation but won’t sit with other royals, a source claimed. He might seemingly be out of the royal “inner circle.”
For a while, speculations around the plans for the monarch’s funeral have sparked discussions online. A few reports have often focused on Prince Harry’s involvement in the arrangement because he is only a royal by blood, not by protocol.
King Charles’ funeral plans is a message to Prince Harry, says ‘source’
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, shook the royal family when they quit their roles as working royals. Since then, the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and King Charles III has apparently hit a rough patch. According to Rob Shuter’s recent report, he might not be treated like other royals in the funeral plans of the king.
A source told the outlet that Prince Harry would certainly be invited with his family, but with conditions. Reportedly, he won’t “sit with [Queen] Camilla, [Princess] Kate or [Prince] William.” The insider claimed that the rule might be a “message” to the duke. “A very clear one. He’s out of the inner circle — and this makes it permanent,” they added.
The news came after King Charles delivered a touching speech at the grand State Banquet at Windsor Castle for French President Emmanuel Macron. In his toast, he mentioned his first son, Prince William, seemingly skipping Prince Harry’s name. This action made headlines, highlighting the estranged relationship between the father and the second son.
King Charles’ speech was about the castle and its first ancestor, “William, Duke of Normandy, in the year 1070.” Adding to that, he said, “So it is perhaps rather appropriate that my son, the Prince of Wales, who shares that earlier William’s name, has made Windsor his home with his family, like so many of our predecessors.”
