Jax Taylor Leaving The Valley Was a Long Time Coming — Opinion

When Bravo launched The Valley, the concept was simple: take a handful of Vanderpump Rules favorites, some new parents, and a few wannabe influencers, throw them into the suburban hills of Los Angeles, and let the drama unfold. And at the center of it all was Jax Taylor—reality TV’s original villain. He was rebranded as a husband, father, and self-proclaimed “changed man.” But we knew the truth. Jax never really changed. And now, in what feels like the least shocking twist of 2025, he’s officially out. Gone. Off the cast roster. And honestly? It’s about time.

Because while Jax may have brought name recognition to The Valley, he also brought chaos, contradiction, and a whole lot of unresolved baggage. His departure isn’t just overdue. It actually might be the best thing to happen to this spin-off. And frankly, it’s time to get off the rollercoaster.

Why Jax Taylor is leaving The Valley

Jax’s exit has been brewing since Season 2 premiered. It was clear Jax had no idea what kind of show he was actually on. He thought he was stepping into a redemption arc—husband-and-dad Jax, family man Jax. Instead, we got moody, combative, still-obsessed-with-his-own-edit Jax. And the cracks started showing immediately. Jax revealed to Us Weekly “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley.”

From fighting with Brittany Cartwright on camera to picking pointless fights with castmates like Danny Booko, Jax seemed less interested in evolving and more interested in controlling the narrative. He bristled at criticism, deflected blame, and constantly reminded viewers that he was trying. But trying for what? Jax added, “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.” In short, Jax didn’t adapt to The Valley. He tried to bend it into his own reality, and when that didn’t work, he bailed. Bravo hasn’t confirmed whether he left voluntarily or was shown the door. But either way, the outcome is the same: the show just got a lot lighter.

Why Jax’s departure from the show is the best thing for everyone

The Valley was never going to thrive with Jax as its centerpiece. He’s too polarizing, too stuck in his old habits, and too unwilling to read the room. Watching him try to play the role of supportive co-parent while also talking trash behind Brittany’s back? Exhausting. Watching him try to lead the group dynamic while simultaneously gaslighting everyone? Awkward. His presence on the show overshadowed every other storyline. And not in a good, “stir the pot” way more in a “why are we still doing this?” way. Without Jax, the rest of the cast might finally have a chance to breathe.

And let’s not forget Brittany. She’s been carrying a lot. On and off camera. And it’s no secret their marriage was under a microscope this season. With Jax off the show, Brittany could finally step into her own storyline, independent of his constant emotional rollercoaster. She’s funny, warm, and surprisingly savvy. In other words, she has everything Jax doesn’t: likability. Even the fans seem relieved.

Our final thoughts on Jax Taylor

Jax leaving The Valley doesn’t feel like a loss. It feels like a necessary reset. He had his moment. Multiple moments, actually. But his time as a reality TV frontman is over. The charm wore off. The antics got old. And the redemption arc? It never really started. The latest episode felt super dark to the point where it almost wasn’t fun to watch. Jax tried to play the good guy and take Brittany out at the same time. His last few scenes were uncomfortable. Now, The Valley has a chance to become something better: a show about people actually trying to grow, not just pretending to. And honestly? That’s a storyline we’re finally ready to watch. In my opinion, Jax is officially done. No one in the industry is going to hire him, and maybe, just maybe, he will actually work on himself.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
