The Valley’s Luke Broderick Finds Jax Taylor ‘Dangerous’ to Platform

On July 16, when news broke that Jax Taylor was not returning for The Valley Season 3, costar Luke Broderick felt relieved.

On the July 22 episode of The Viall Files, apparently taped before the announcement of Jax’s departure, Luke made his feelings clear. When host Nick Viall asked who he thought should be cut from the show, Luke had a ready answer.

“I think it’s dangerous to give a person like [Jax] the platform that he has because there will always be apologists,” he responded. “Look, Jax is entertaining. Maybe there is some sort of a show for him.”

Jax Taylor won’t return for The Valley Season 3

Jax announced his exit in a formal statement. “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Jax wrote. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.” Cruz, 4, is Jax’s son with estranged wife Brittany Cartwright.

For more than a decade we’ve watched Jax exhibit bad behavior and toxicity on both Vanderpump Rules and The Valley. During The Valley’s Season 2, he went to rehab for his “mental health,” during which he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Jax later followed up with a second visit for cocaine addiction.

When Nick asked Luke if he’d ever had the courage to confront Jax, Luke admitted that he had, which provoked an unexpected reaction. “Oddly enough, after I called Jax out, he wanted to hang out more,” Luke replied. “He’d text me three to four times a week wanting to … go do something.”

Further, Luke confessed to honestly telling Jax that he’s “not a good person. He didn’t refute it and didn’t even really respond to it. But I saw it hit him.”

But Jax isn’t the only cast member Luke hopes to see canceled. He’s not a fan of Lala Kent either, mostly because of her past bad blood with his fiancée Kristen Doute. But following the birth of Luke and Kristen’s baby girl Kaia Lily, Kristen has been working on her friendship with Lala.

Additionally, Luke is no fan of Janet Caperna. “Hypothetically, I would like Jax and Janet removed from the show,” he added. Luke’s not the only one.

The Valley airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
