Shep Rose continues to stir the pot and sip the sweet tea of Charleston drama. The Southern Charm OG may have started as the lovable, laid-back bachelor with a trust fund and a penchant for late-night antics, but fans have watched him evolve over the show’s rollercoaster seasons. Whether he’s penning a love text or dishing out some solid advice to castmates, Shep always finds a way to stay at the center of the chaos.
For years, Shep and monogamy went together like bourbon and water. But in Season 10, he showed a whole new, vulnerable side. He’s been embracing the single life (again) and traveling. Knowing Shep, the drama is far from over.
Reality Tea got the chance to sit down with Shep to chat. Love him or roll your eyes at him, Shep remains a cornerstone of Bravo’s Southern soap opera.
Southern Charm’s Shep Rose has learned a lot about love since his breakup with Sienna Evans
Things in the love department might look a bit different for the Southern Charm star. But Shep remains adamant that his relationship with Sienna Evans taught him more about himself.
“Um, yeah, sometimes you can be overly optimistic, especially in a long-distance situation. And sort of not read the fine print because you’re so hopeful. It was on the heels, I mean not on the heels of, not long after Taylor and I split. So it was like ‘Oh yes, I feel good!’ Honestly, it was very sudden what happened.”
Shep added, “After the fact, everyone was like ‘we didn’t think you were that dumb.’ I swear it wasn’t [like] that [at the] start.”
Many Southern Charm fans feel that Shep got swept up in the moment, and he would have to agree. “Yeah, absolutely. It happens on both aisles, so to speak.” As for his relationship with Austen Kroll and Craig Conover? The waters seem calm.
“I’m good with both of them. I empathize with Craig. He had a very pubic breakup and you know. For all the tough exterior he tries to exhibit, I know he’s a sensitive guy. I don’t think there’s any secret to that. It presents itself in different ways.”
Shep continued, “You know, I’m trying to be very empathetic, especially after such a tough time he had in the public eye. When I talked to him, I was like ‘I’ve been there’ which I have, the shoe was a little bit on the other foot in the Taylor part, boy, it decimated, it screwed me up for a while. I sort of mentioned Sienna, and he was like ‘that’ and I was like ‘you’re right. There’s nothing like that.’ That is not congruent at all. But I was just trying to talk through some stuff.
“This season’s going to be very good. And I think Craig and I specifically really dig into our own psyche. And I think that’s important cause when you bottle things up, it can explode. You’ve got to rely on your friends and communicate.”
After being dubbed the Playboy of King Street, Shep chose to share his heart with viewers
Sharing your heart on national TV would be hard for anyone. But like most other things, Shep took it all in stride. “It was all I knew to do. You know I’m not an actor. I’m just a guy walking around trying to do my best. That whole thing, yeah, after that weekend I was just like as flattened, but you know. It was pretty brutal.”
Perhaps the most surprising outcome was that Craig’s advice was right on the mark. Shep laughed, adding, “He was kind of harsh with the advice there at the end. The dynamic between us is quite interesting.”
Shep is looking forward to BravoCon 2025
Shep has been extremely open about his BravoCon 2023 appearance. Fans will recall that Shep revealed he had blacked out the entire weekend and vowed to do better. As for the upcoming festivities, he noted, “I feel pretty good. I’m writing a book as we speak. I’ve already written it. And it sort of begins with BravoCon. I really am excited about it. It’s just like a ‘listen to what happened’ and it definitely isn’t advocating anything. Yeah, maybe showing gratitude and being vulnerable. All these things that are important and trying to grow and be the best version of yourself.”
Shep comments on Kathryn Dennis’ recent post
Reality Tea asked whether he had seen Kathryn Dennis’ recent post, which seemed to be aimed at Salley Carson. In her Instagram Story, Karthyn wrote, “I heard on the next season that someone buys the same car, dyes their hair the same color as me, of course, the OG.” It turns out Shep did catch a peek.
“I was at my favorite little coffee shop, and this waitress, whom I’m friendly with, was like, “Have you seen Kathryn’s video?’ And I was like ‘What? No.’ I don’t really pay attention to stuff. Again, trying to get off my phone. So I clicked on it. I didn’t look good. I’ll say that. She looked manic, a little bit, and in a state, I would say. Again, empathy, and it’s been so long, and I know that she’s probably very painful for her visitation rights with her children. You hate to see it.”
Shep comments on Todd Chrisley’s mean comments about Ms. Patricia
“Uh-huh. What’s that?” For those like Shep who weren’t aware, let me give you a little of the tea. Basically, Todd Chrisley was on his podcast and said, during the press conference, he had stated that they were doing a hotel and it’s going to be near Charleston. He claimed Ms. Patricia posted something like “Well, there goes the neighborhood.” Todd then claimed, “I’ve never had an issue with her. I always thought she was a classy lady.”
Shep remarked, “That’s kind of hokey. Funny. Right?” But it gets a little sassier as Todd says, “‘Please don’t go back on this old lady. Do not do that.’ Because at the end of the day, she’s old. She’s already, according to the tabloids, transferred her assets over to her son. I guess she’s getting ready for death.”
Shep was not impressed as he exclaimed, “Oh my God. That’s pretty morbid. I bet you Whitney is like ‘Mom! Get off your phone!’ You know I love Ms. Patricia. We can all fall victim to this. You put a comment out, and it’s misconstrued. It’s not contextualized. And a hailstorm follows. Which sucks, cause the fans or followers would want us to be bantering.”
What can Shep tell us about the new season of Southern Charm?
“I can’t really talk about new people. Just because I don’t know if that’s what they want. It’s a really good season. Somebody told me in the production ladder that it’s like they loved it. Great job, everybody basically. Of course, again, we are not actors. We’re just living and this show, something always happens. Or somebody goes down this path. It just all works out. I mean, hopefully it works out. There’s conflict, there’s also laughter. There’s also bonds you might not have guessed.”
As far as whether Shep will love again, that remains a Charleston mystery. “Oh yeah, so me uh, I think I stay out of trouble. I bought a new house. So I get to play designer.” Naturally, we asked if he happened to buy his new home from Cameran Eubanks.
“No, I don’t know if she does a lot of real estate anymore. Me and Whitney went out to lunch with her and it was a lot of fun. We laughed a lot and talked about hanging out, but she’s hard to pin down! I’m telling ya, man.”
Why partnering with US Cellular made sense for Shep
Shep is looking to put his phone down for a bit of a respite. “I was really interested and sort of excited when US Cellular approached me simply because it was contrarian, I guess you could say. And I love that. I think it’s completely valid as well. The world is passing us by in some instances while we stare at videos of somebody getting kicked in the groin. I do laugh and laugh at some memes, but you know, but I got off Twitter when I was in Copenhagen.” And it seems Shep hasn’t looked back.
Southern Charm Season 11 is expected to head to Bravo in late 2025. The show is available to stream on Peacock in the US, and on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
