Season 7 of Love Island USA featured an unexpected romance. Cierra Ortega was removed from the villa because of her prior use of racial slurs. At the time, the cast and viewers were told that Cierra exited due to a “personal situation.” Afterwards, her partner, Nic Vansteenberghe, found another love connection with Olandria Carthen.
While Nic and Cierra were the only ones closed off on the show, fans at home were rooting for Olandria and Nic. However, after she departed the villa, Cierra shared that she wasn’t thrilled with Nic and Olandria’s romance. Now, Nic is weighing in on Cierra’s comments.

Cierra shaded Nic moving on with Olandria in a social media post. Recently, Nic was a guest on the podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer. When asked about Cierra’s social media comments, Nic responded, “That video just was so off-putting for me. I never once bashed her. I never once told her that I wasn’t interested in her,” he added.
The Islander continued, “I cared about Cierra. Then, through her leaving the villa and then exploring Olandria – which is what Love Island is about – I found this great and amazing connection. And then Cierra is bashing me for that.” Nic added, “So to me, I was like, ‘I’m going to take that on the chin. That’s fine if you feel that way, but I’m gonna keep moving on.’”
Right now, Nic is focused on a future with Olandria. “Then you see a post like that, it just made me feel, like, uncomfortable. I’m happy where I’m at,” Nic stated, “and I don’t need to indulge in the online negativity.”
There is zero doubt that Cierra’s controversial exit will be discussed at the upcoming Season 7 Love Island USA reunion. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the Islanders have to say about Cierra’s scandal.
