Some things are just too painful to talk about. That’s how Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley feel about the death of Nic Kerdiles. Nic was the ex-fiancé of their daughter, Savannah Chrisley. The couple has refrained from talking about him until now.
This is a bit surprising considering there hasn’t seemed to be a topic Todd won’t discuss until now. From how he fared in prison to the allegations of a gay affair. He hasn’t shied away from anything, until now. It appears talking about Nic is hard for the couple.
Todd Chrisley calls Nic Kerdiles’ death the “hardest thing I ever dealt with”
On the latest episode of their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Todd touched on the loss of Nic, who passed away at 29 years old from a motorcycle accident. He said it was “still so painful” even after all this time.
“I’ve had so many people send me messages on Instagram wanting to know why I haven’t discussed it,” Todd started. He explained his reasoning: “I just wasn’t ready to discuss it. I actually am not ready to discuss it today. But out of respect for Nic and the love that we have for him and will have for him for the rest of our days, I’m going to have this conversation one time.”
He added that he will not be talking about it again after this. Todd admitted that they hadn’t talked about Nic’s death after their presidential pardon and release because it was “still very fresh.”
Nic was quite close to the Chrisley family. Even when things didn’t work out with Savannah, he was still a part of their lives. He was even the one who drove Todd to prison.
“My heart has not healed,” Todd said candidly. “I don’t know that it ever will heal. I don’t feel like I owe that to you.”
He added, “I don’t feel like I owe it to anyone to talk about how I feel about him today versus how I felt about him when he lost his life. But out of respect for the love that we have for him, I will tell you it was the hardest thing I have ever dealt with in my life.”
Todd shared that he had really wanted Nic and Savannah to get married. But even when they didn’t, he still spoke to Nic every day, and the pair texted constantly. He said Nic remained there for them constantly, and he continued to stay in touch with Nic until his death.
“I loved Nic and I love him to this day,” Todd shared. “Nic was my friend, he was my buddy. He was another son to me. And there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him.”
He told listeners it was still painful and that he would not be speaking on it again. “That’s the end of my conversation about my son, Nic Kerdiles,” Todd concluded.
Chrisley Knows Best is streaming on Peacock. The Chrisleys: Back to Reality premieres on Lifetime later this year.
