While filming a scene for The Devil Wears Prada 2, Anne Hathaway, who was walking down a small flight of stairs, tumbled and suffered a fall. However, she did not seem to suffer any major injuries and quickly shrugged off what happened. The upcoming comedy-drama film is set to release in May 2026, 20 years after the first one’s release. In it, Hathaway reprises her role of Andrea “Andy” Sachs. In the original film, she was an unconfident, inexperienced journalism graduate until she transformed into a capable and fashion-savvy professional.
Anne Hathaway falls and almost suffers a wardrobe malfunction
As seen in footage shared online, Anne Hathaway was shown exiting an apartment holding a half-eaten bagel in one hand.
While walking down the stairs, the Academy Award winner suddenly slipped and tumbled onto the ground after one of her heels broke. However, she appeared unhurt by the fall, smiling at the mishap. During the fall, a portion of the bagel’s cheesy liquid dripped onto the stairs.
Hathaway got up and struck a gymnast pose. She shouted, “I’m fine!” to onlookers who rushed to check on her well-being.
It’s unclear if Anne Hathaway’s fall was part of a scripted sequence for The Devil Wears Prada 2 or simply an on-set accident.
In the footage, the Interstellar actress sported a beige checkered shear dress layered over a black tank top, a black pleated skirt, and tall black and silver-studded heels. She accessorized with a black leather handbag, a white beaded necklace, and a pair of orange-tinted shades.
Moreover, Hathaway could be seen on set half-hugging and smiling at a crew member. Another picture showed the 42-year-old star walking down the street holding the hand of a crew member.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters across the United States and Canada on May 1, 2026. David Frankel helmed the film from a script penned by Aline Brosh McKenna.
Besides Hathaway, the film also stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, Tibor Feldman, and Kenneth Branagh, among others.
