Meghan Markle will reportedly not accompany her husband, Prince Harry, on his trip to the United Kingdom. According to a recent report, the Duke of Sussex will fly to his home country to attend the 2025 Wellchild Awards. This will be the first time that he will return since his last visit in April.
However, he will travel alone because his wife will seemingly skip the event and stay in California with their kids. Coincidentally, the annual event falls on the same day as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death anniversary.
Meghan Markle is reportedly skipping UK trip with Prince Harry
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have rarely visited the U.K. together since their royal exit. The 40-year-old has often visited his home country for various reasons. This time, he will attend the 2025 Wellchild Awards, which will be held on September 8. However, the Duchess of Sussex will skip the trip, according to UK Express.
She will stay at the couple’s Montecito home in California with their kids — Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The former actress last visited the country in 2022 to attend the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Moreover, the day of the event that Harry will attend the awards ceremony happens to be the third death anniversary of his grandmother.
The Duke of Sussex has been attending the annual event every year as the charity’s patron. It will celebrate the accomplishments of children with serious ailments and their caregivers. Speaking about the 2025 Wellchild Awards in a statement, Prince Harry mentioned that he’s “always privileged” to attend the ceremony. He feels honored to “meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit.”
Since his royal exit, he has visited the U.K. multiple times, but mostly because of work commitments. Amid the ongoing reunion rumors, all eyes will be on the duke’s upcoming visit. In the past, Harry had allegedly pointed out that he could not bring his family with him due to safety reasons. Reportedly, his royal family-funded security was downgraded once the Sussexes quit their royal duties in 2020.
