Prince Harry Will Return to the UK on Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s Death

Prince Harry will travel to the UK next month to attend a charity event. His visit is likely to be especially poignant given its timing – it coincides with the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II‘s death. His return also comes against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the Duke and the Royal Family.

Prince Harry is returning to the UK for the WellChild Awards’ 20th anniversary in London

Prince Harry will return to the UK on September 8, exactly three years after the passing of his beloved grandmother. The anniversary is sure to weigh on his mind. But the Duke of Sussex is traveling for a meaningful reason – the 20th anniversary of the WellChild Awards.

The WellChild charity recognizes and awards the achievements and inspirational traits of the UK’s seriously ill children. It also shines a spotlight on the dedicated caregivers who support them. Harry has been a patron of WellChild for 17 years and attends the Awards every year.

The Duke of Sussex said in a statement posted to the charity’s social media accounts: “I am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit.

This upcoming visit will be Harry’s first trip across the Atlantic since losing his appeal for UK-funded security. He and wife Meghan Markle stepped away from the British Monarchy in 2020, amid reports of rifts and deep-rooted issues between Harry and his family. He will meet with King Charles during this latest visit, renewing hopes of a reconciliation.

It’s been reported that Meghan will not be joining him on the trip.
