Millionaire CEO Apologizes After Snatching Signed Cap From Kid at US Open

A millionaire CEO is making headlines for all the wrong reasons at Flushing Meadows.

This stems from an incident on Thursday following Kamil Majchrzak’s upset victory over ninth-seeded Karen Khachanov at the US Open. The Polish player intended to give a young fan a souvenir as he exited the stadium. What was supposed to be a special moment for the kid turned out to be a nightmare, all because of the antics of a man who runs a paving company.

Remaining incognito these days is next to impossible, particularly at an event as publicized as the US Open. Internet sleuths discovered the person involved in a viral incident last week is Piotr Szczerek.

The CEO of the paving company called Drogbruk, Piotr, snatched away a cap autographed by Kamil for a boy. Kamil confirmed that it was Piotr in the video. He added that the millionaire sponsors his tennis federation in Poland.

The Daily Mail reports that the CEO expressed remorse over his actions in a statement on his company’s Instagram account.

“Due to the situation that occurred during Kamil Majchrzak’s match at the US Open, I would like to unequivocally apologize to the injured boy, his family, all the fans, and the player himself,” he wrote.

“Today I know that I did something that looked like I deliberately took a souvenir from a child. It wasn’t my intention, but that doesn’t change the fact that I hurt the boy and disappointed the fans,” Piotr continued.

He apologized to the youngster, stating that the cap was given to the boy. Piotr is reportedly an amateur tennis player introduced to the sport by his wife Anna.

Here’s how Kamil recalls everything afterwards. “I was pointing, giving the hat, but I had a lot going on after my match, after being super tired and super excited for the win. I just missed it.”

He and the boy reunited again on Saturday in a video on the Polish player’s Instagram account. The two were posing for a picture together as the youngster got a bag of merchandise.

Kamil lost his weekend match in a walkover to Leandro Riedi.
