It seems Roger Waters didn’t get the memo about not speaking ill of the dead. The Pink Floyd bassist recently made some pretty harsh comments about Ozzy Osbourne during an interview. The Black Sabbath frontman’s son, Jack Osbourne, took to Instagram to defend his dad with some strong words for the musician.
Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters said the late Ozzy Osbourne was “all over” with his “idiocy and nonsense”
The rock’n’roll hall of fame is full of bloated egos, and for some, that translates into a serious lack of decorum. Roger Waters, co-founder of Pink Floyd, said some rather inflammatory things about Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July. The interview with “The Independent Ink” took place last month, but has recently gained more traction online.
During the interview, which has been posted to YouTube, Roger said: “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him, in his whatever that state that he was in his whole life. Although he was all over the TV for hundreds of years with his idiocy and nonsense.”
The bassist also had some blunt words for Ozzy’s band: “The music, I’ve no idea. I couldn’t give a f*ck. I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did.”
As you can imagine, Ozzy’s son Jack wasn’t happy about the comments. He wrote in his Instagram stories: “Hey @rogerwaters. F*ck You. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullsh*t in the press. My father always thought you were a c*nt – thanks for proving him right.”
Black Sabbath fans were also unimpressed. Many took to the comments on the YouTube video to express their disdain at the verbal onslaught. One wrote: “Absolute GARBAGE take on Ozzy and Sabbath. Disrespectful and seething with pure jealousy.”
Another added: “No one asks who Ozzy is, but people ask who this Roger Waters fellow is. Enough said.”
Roger isn’t the only one to face the wrath of the Osbourne family following insensitive comments. Last month Kelly Osbourne hit back at WWE wrestler Becky Lynch after she insulted Ozzy’s beloved hometown.
