It looks like it’s all water under the bridge now between Nikki Garcia and her ex-husband, Artem Chigvintsev. It may have been a rocky road, but the two have found solid footing as co-parents to their son Matteo, and Nikki is not shy about admitting it.
Things haven’t been easy for the former married couple who met on Dancing with the Stars. They finalized their divorce in 2024, but only after a lot of back and forth that involved law enforcement. In the end, they both agreed that they wanted to focus on what was best for their son. And it looks like they’ve been working with that common goal in mind since then.
Nikki Garcia thinks Artem Chigvintsev is handling coparenting well
Their mutual commitment to co-parenting is certainly helpful as Nikki returned to her WWE roots earlier this year.
“I have so much passion and love for this business,” Nikki shared. “I’m not gonna let people take away how much fun I had out there. I truly love wrestling,” she shared on the September 4 episode of her and twin sister Brie Garcia’s podcast. “That’s why I’m here. That’s why I’m traveling every week.”
She magnanimously added, “I have to give it to Artem, who’s been amazing at adapting to my schedule. I get Matteo almost more, and he lets me, like, he’s amazing.”
“We’re a great team,” Nikki said. “We’ve adapted well. And Matteo’s thriving. It’s like, all these things. I’m having so much fun.”
Even Brie complimented Nikki’s current dynamic with Artem, which is a new take for her, considering how she felt about him during Nikki and Artem’s separation. “You and Artem have been a great team,” Brie admitted. “Both of you have adapted really well to everything.”
It may not have ended well or easily, but it looks like all’s well between Nikki and Artem now. Having a mutual goal is important. It seems that they are focused on what’s best for Matteo, and that means being a good team and supporting each other as parents.
Dancing with the Stars Season 34 will premiere on Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. It will stream on Hulu the next day.
