Next week, Captain Sandy Yawn and her crew are setting sail on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10. As the trailer teases, delays, drama, and “visual dildos” will soon grace our screens. No, the ever-respectable Captain Sandy did not tease that latter part, but she did have many other things to say when Reality Tea got her on the line. And from the sounds of things, our fearless leader might have her hands full this season, specifically with her newly promoted Bosun, Nathan Gallagher.

Captain Sandy has nothing but love for Nathan as a human. But as a bosun, “Well…” More on that in a bit. Here’s everything Captain Sandy had to say about Below Deck Med Season 10.

When Below Deck Med Season 10 debuts next week, three returning stars and five new (to Bravo) yachties will present. So, we asked Captain Sandy about each of these yachties. And these were her quick hottakes.

Aesha Scott is “The best,” Captain Sandy expressed without any hesitation. Aesha and Captain Sandy have worked together for years. Hopefully, they still have many additional seasons left as a duo.

As for Nathan, “Well … Okay, I love him. He’s a good guy,” Captain Sandy stressed. But, “when the boat starts rocking, you could see a few things that might break,” courtesy of a swinging tender. Nevertheless, Captain Sandy is “glad he’s back.”

Max Salvador is back for another season of sexual Eiffel Tower comparisons. Captain Sandy loves this, as do we. “Max makes me laugh,” she said. But also, “Max is very passionate” about everything he does.

Josh Bingham is coming in as our new chef this season. “Josh is a clown,” Captain Sandy joked. “Literally,” we responded, since Josh revealed in the trailer that he is indeed a jester on the side.

Kizzi Kitchener is working in the interior department under Aesha. On this stew, Captain Sandy cheekily said, “Kissy Kizzy.”

Victoria SanJuan is also coming in hot on the interior team. But thankfully, this stew is “focused,” said her new boss.

Christian Trimino is one of our new deckhands. But he might create a few issues onboard, as Captain Sandy dryly explained, “I don’t know how he learned to fly, but he can fly planes.”

Finally, Tessa Budd will soon arrive to round out the deck team. Regarding Tessa, Captain Sandy teased, “She’s just figuring out where she is or where she wants to be. I’m not really sure. Nice kid though.”

What can Captain Sandy tease about Below Deck Med Season 10?

In the first look reel for Episode 1, Captain Sandy whispered, “He’s gonna be great,” after her first meeting with Josh in the galley. Was this statement said too soon, or does Josh meet all of her expectations this season?

“You know, honestly, yeah, I think he’s gonna be great, to be honest.” However, “I don’t know until I get to watch the show, because then I’ll get to see if the guests are complaining or not. But, as far as a human being, he’s a great person,” Captain Sandy replied.

On a similar note, in the sneak peek, viewers see Captain Sandy telling Nathan to get his sh*t together. As his boss, did Captain Sandy see any strengths in Nathan during his first stint as a bosun?

“Yes, of course,” she began. But sometimes, Nathan behaves like a “bro-son instead of a boson. And I think he needs to learn to be a boson, but he has to figure it out. Obviously, I told him to get his sh*t together for a reason,” she explained. But as to what that reason will soon be, her lips are sealed.

Her lips remained shut when we inquired about any potential firings this season. “You gotta watch it and find out. What do you think?” she asked us. “Probably,” we answered.

Regardless, her main struggles this season did not involve the cast, since “The crew is always going to have problems. That is just a way of life, right?” Instead, Captain Sandy toiled with “the weather and the coastline of Barcelona,” which threatened her “logistics on board while chartering.” But the funnest part about this season was that “America’s Cup was happening at the same time we were filming,” which does sound fun.

What is Captain Sandy up to now?

Now that their cameras are down, Captain Sandy is living her best life, loving “on Leah [Shafer],” her beloved wife since May of last year. She is also focusing on her charity, noting, “I try to give back” via “maritime education.”

As stated on her website, “Captain Sandy’s Charities developed Steering Toward Success through Young Minds Inspired to help educators bring awareness of marine careers to middle and high school students throughout Florida. The fully accredited program supports career preparedness, STEM, geography, and ELA.” You can go ahead and consider the former teacher in me giddy about this program. This initiative makes me appreciate Captain Sandy all the more.

Hopefully, her new crew values her as well. But if not, cue all the drama as Below Deck Med Season 10 advances on Bravo.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 premieres September 29 at 8/7c on Bravo, streaming on Peacock the next day. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
