Kelly McKee Zajfen has known the Duchess of Sussex for the better part of two decades and says she’s helped her through some tremendously difficult times. The group aims to build a brighter future for pregnant and parenting youth in the Los Angeles youth foster care system.
Meghan was born in Los Angeles. She, her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children moved to California in 2020.

Since settling back in the U.S., Meghan and Harry have been supporting numerous charitable causes in the area. Having grown up in California and being a mom, Kelly’s group is near and dear to the heart of the Duchess.
Recently, Kelly held a Q&A on social media with her followers. One person asked about her relationship with Meghan Markle. “I’ve actually known her for almost 20 years?” Kelly replied. She says that the Duchess attended her wedding over a decade ago and has been there for her through some difficult times lately. “She’s been by my side, especially since Georgie died, and I cherish our friendship very much,” Kelly said on Instagram.
George was the son of Kelly and husband Julian, who died in 2022 of COVID and viral meningitis at the tender age of nine. Meghan and Harry donated $5,000 to a GoFundMe set up in the late boy’s honor. Kelly even wore a hat that said “Lettuce Romaine Calm,” the same style cap the Duchess previously wore.
Kelly and Meghan attended a Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Gala in October. The royal couple were also spotted at the George Zajfen tennis tournament in memory of Kelly’s late son.
Kelly called the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a “guiding light” for her and her family.
