There were hopes that the royal rift between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, was beginning to heal. King Charles and Harry recently met for the first time since February 2024. The duo had tea at Clarence House, with their meeting lasting less than one hour.
Still, it seemed that there was hope that, perhaps, the royal family could finally reconcile. However, Prince William didn’t receive a heads-up about this reunion, and sources claim that if he had, “he would have tried to block it.” Unfortunately, even the reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles isn’t without controversy.
A royal source says “senior aides have been working … to improve” King Charles and Prince Harry’s relationship
According to The Sunday Times, a royal insider claimed that the palace wasn’t pleased about some statements that Harry allegedly made. Reportedly, Harry accused palace insiders of “sabotaging” his reunion with his father. He claimed that “men in grey suits” were responsible for leaking information about their reunion.
“The reality is that senior aides have been working behind the scenes to improve what is a delicate but important private family relationship,” a source stated. As a result, the palace is “saddened and perplexed” by Harry’s reported remarks.
A recent report suggested that the meeting between father and son was “distinctly formal” and “very official.” However, a spokesperson for Prince Harry denied these claims. “Recent reporting of the duke’s view of the tone of the meeting is categorically false. The quotes attributed to him are pure invention – fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, according to an insider, King Charles hasn’t changed his view “that there cannot be ‘half-in, half-out’ members of the working Royal family.” So, where does that leave Harry’s chances of a meaningful reconciliation with his family? Only time will tell.
