Guitar player Maggie Baugh is currently making headlines alongside Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman. The latter two are divorcing. And, as far as we know, Maggie is just an innocent party to their drama. So, why is this musician now finding herself stuck in the middle of their marital mess?

In 2023, Maggie released her debut album, Dear Me. This album quickly went viral, reaching over 500K streams in its first day alone. Shortly after, Maggie found herself sitting in the nineteenth spot on iTunes for the US Country Album Charts. Cue Keith, asking Maggie to “join him on tour as his utility player.”
Now, Maggie is everywhere. She has performed on all kinds of stages, including “the CMT Awards, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, the Today Show, Nissan Stadium, and Kelly Clarkson, just to name a few. As an artist, she has performed on stages such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.”
And now, in 2025, Maggie is excited to release more hits while “hitting the road” on tour. As her website states, “Performing in venues such as dive bars, theaters, festivals, and everything in-between, Baugh will show the world what it means to be a true entertainer.”

So why is Maggie now trending in the category of Keith, Nicole, and their recent filings? For starters, Keith recorded a song called The Fighter in 2016. This song was on his ninth album, Ripcord. Within this piece, the lyrics paid homage to his earlier, happier days with Nicole.
“It’s all from a conversation my wife and I had early on in our relationship, that when things get tough, I need to hold her tighter and just try to take care of her,” Keith explained to Billboard back in 2017. He added, “The song is about wanting to heal somebody, wanting to take care of somebody, wanting to protect somebody. It’s really like a vow in so many ways.”
Keith wanted “that tenderness to not have to get hardened to the world. That’s my job as her husband, to put myself around her so she can remain that way. And that’s really the chorus of The Fighter.” But now that he and Nicole have lost that loving feeling, Keith needed to make a quick change-up to this song, and this is where Maggie came into play.
Four days before the world learned about their separation, Keith took liberty with his lyrics. Instead of singing “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” he sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.” Maggie went on to share this moment on Instagram. And now, she is a part of his current drama.
What is the latest on Keith and Nicole’s divorce?
Meanwhile, things are taking a dramatic turn between Nicole and Keith. Nicole reportedly wanted to save their marriage. But the word on the street suggests that Keith felt otherwise. Some insiders are even claiming that Keith has already moved on with someone new, despite having been married to Nicole for over a decade.
Either way, a reconciliation is seemingly off the cards. So, Nicole filed for divorce on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause. As for their children, their recent filings show Nicole getting 306 days per year with their teenage daughters, compared to Keith’s 59 days. But these two must also attend court-ordered parenting seminars, while doing their best to stay silent in the press regarding the other party, which might prove tricky as their divorce continues heating up in the press.
Nicole and Keith are just now starting to go through the motions of their divorce. Due to many factors, neither party will receive child support. However, Keith is likely to secure a solid payout from Nicole, courtesy of their signed prenup from 2006.
According to this legal document, Nicole agreed to pay Keith $17 million in the event of their divorce. Additionally, Keith stands to make an additional $600,000 for every year of their marriage. Basically, it’s expensive to be rich, especially when the word divorce enters the conversation.
