Last night, a shocking elimination rocked Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars. However, this dismissal proves that the fans are influential AF. With just one click of their wrists, the outcomes of this competition can tip, regardless of how the actual judges on this series voted.
This newly ousted star now understands this aspect full well, since she was not listed at the bottom of the leaderboard ahead of Week 3. In fact, she and her Pro were actually pretty high up in the rankings. Therefore, our money was not riding on losing this star this early in the game. And neither was hers, as her one-word statement following her elimination showed.
Who was eliminated on DWTS last night?

Last night, Lauren Jauregui, a former member of the all-girl band Fifth Harmony, and her Pro, Brandon Armstrong, danced their final jig. But their elimination from DWTS Season 34 felt shocking, since the judges typically gave them high scores for their performances. Proving this point, by the end of Episode 2, Lauren and Brandom were actually in a three-way tie for third place, where Lauren received comments that described her showings as “mesmerizing” from various judges.
However, the judges also noted that Lauren needed to refine a few details, such as her steps, counts, and ability to dance cleanly, with sharp lines intact. Even still, Lauren was sitting in a relatively safe spot. That is, until Week 3 arrived, showing her surprising cut from Season 34.
Lauren felt just as shocked as the viewers when her name sounded. So, when asked how she was feeling about getting cut from this competition series, Lauren bluntly answered, “Pissed.” As the studio audience and Brandon laughed, Lauren turned to her Pro, admitting how “grateful” she was to have experienced Season 34 at his side.
But why did the results land this way? Did Lauren make any major missteps that bumped her out of the running during Week 3?
Why was Lauren Jauregui eliminated from Dancing with the Stars?

Week 3 of DWTS featured a TikTok-themed night. So, Lauren selected the song Work from Home, a Fifth Harmony piece, for this occasion. In the audience, members of her former band cheered her on from their seats. After, the judges awarded Lauren and Brandon a total score of 18 out of 30 points.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba loved the way that Lauren moved. However, she found the intensity in her steps lacking. Derek Hough agreed. He also added that Lauren needed a bit more fire in her delivery.
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli noted that Lauren needed to work on hitting her beats. In turn, they each awarded Lauren and Brandon six points. With 18 points to their name, Lauren and Brandon found themselves in a new position during Week 3. Instead of landing near the upper middle ranking on DWTS, they were sitting in a tied position for the lowest ranking on DWTS.
Andy Richter and Emma Slater also received a low 18 points this week. But unlike Lauren, Andy has lived in the lower rankings throughout this competition. Therefore, his total score was much lower than Lauren’s by the end of Week 3. So, why didn’t Andy get the boot instead?
Long story short, the voters chose to save Andy instead.
Were there any surprise scores on DWTS last night?

By a landslide, Lauren and her Pro received the most shocking score last night on DWTS. As for the other stars, their scores landed as they typically have thus far. But sadly, Robert Irwin, our golden man of the hour, did fall slightly from his abs-filled throne of grace, since he failed to receive the top score. Regardless, he did still place well, coming in with a score of 22 points.
Taking over his top-ranked position in Week 3, Jordan Chiles received a score of 24 points early on, making her the first contestant to score straight eights from the judges this season. But shortly after, Whitney Leavitt tied her score with her Shake Ya Ass samba routine. Due to her total score during Season 34, however, Whitney is still ranked higher than Lauren on DWTS.
Meanwhile, Jen Affleck scored only a wee bit better than Lauren. Overall, her cha-cha to She’s a Bad Mama Jama did not have the desired effect that she was aiming for. So, Jen only earned a total score of 19 points. Now, to remain safe in her position, Jen will need to kick things up a notch ahead of Week 4, otherwise known as Disney Night on DWTS.
Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on Disney+.
