Christine Brown’s daughter Mykelti Brown Padron is moving her family across the country to North Carolina. In the October 5 episode of Sister Wives, Christine wipes away tears as she helps Mykelti pack up.
Meanwhile, in an interview, Mykelti admits how hard it’s been to talk about the move. “Every time I talk about moving to my mom, I break her heart just a little bit more,” she says. “She’s really sad. She’s really heartbroken.”

“Mykelti’s moving tomorrow,” Christine tells People, wiping away tears. “We’re driving her and her kids cross country tomorrow. It’s really hard.”
Mykelti and Tony Padron share three children: daughter Avalon and twin sons Archer and Ace. When Christine left Kody Brown and moved back to Utah, she was looking forward to being closer her grown children. She wanted to watch her grandbabies grow up. But now they’re moving to the other side of the country.
“She’s really sad,” Mykelti explains. “She’s definitely going to miss out on a lot of the years that my kids are young.”
Unfortunately, her siblings don’t yet have children and aren’t planning to for a while. Her half-sister Maddie Brown and husband Caleb Brush purchased a farm in North Carolina with her mom Janelle Brown. Maddie and Caleb have four young children together. “I want my kids to have cousins,” she adds.
Besides wanting to be close to Maddie’s family, Mykelti says it will be good for her husband. “Tony just needs to pursue his chess career,” she continues. Apparently, Tony can “make money” playing in chess tournaments.
“It’s the chess capital of the U.S.,” Tony adds. “I’m someone who works in chess, makes content, and teaches and coaches. For me, moving out there is so exciting because that’s like the hub.” That reputation is due to the Charlotte Chess Center which hosts tournaments, chess-themed events, educational programs and camps for kids.
