After nearly a decade of intense drama in the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital, Sandra Oh could use a good laugh.
The former Grey’s Anatomy star was one of the original cast members of the medical drama, winning a Golden Globe for her portrayal of physician Cristina Yang. The show began in 2005 and is still airing to this day.
Sandra, however, left the program long ago, and a lot has changed since then.

Technology is constantly evolving, making communication with people across the globe significantly simpler. That wasn’t the case when Sandra walked the halls of Seattle Grace Hospital.
The Canadian revealed that she’s not a part of a former cast group chat since departing the show. “Sweetheart, when I started this thing, there was no group chat, Sandra hilariously told E! News. “There was barely a phone, so no.” Chat services like WhatsApp groups were relatively new when Sandra was part of the program, but they were not how she communicated with the cast or crew.
Her time on the medical drama ended in 2014 with the season 10 finale, entitled Fear (Of the Unknown). Group chats weren’t a thing when she was on the show, but Sandra says today, “I’m sure there is a group chat on there.” Over 10 years since departing, Sandra says it’s a decision she still stands by to this day.
Currently, she has another project on her plate. Her latest is the movie Good Fortune, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. The film stars fellow Canadians Seth Rogen, Keanu Reeves and Sandra.
Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy premiered last week with an explosive debut episode.
Good Fortune is set to release in theatres in the US on October 17.
