Charlie Sheen recently confessed and revealed shocking details about his life in his new memoir, “The Book of Sheen.” In it, he mentioned his HIV status and how he paid millions to keep it under wraps. The 60-year-old also discussed his three marriages, his interest in men, his successful career, and the dark time when he used drugs. Meanwhile, the all-tell book was released on September 9, 2025.
Charlie Sheen once hid his HIV status but not anymore
Charlie Sheen’s HIV status anecdote from his new memoir has recently caught attention. The Times has shared the review and experts from the autobiography, “The Book of Sheen.” It is mentioned that the “Two and a Half Men” alum once hid his HIV results by paying millions of dollars.
When he contracted it, he was scared of the news making headlines. Hence, he reportedly became the victim of blackmail. “I had to tell people in private. Then they would extort me with that information,” Sheen mentioned in the book. He claimed that people would take photos of his medicines when he was asleep.
The Golden Globe Awards winner seemingly put a dent in his net worth to stop those who threatened him from exposing his secret to the world. Reportedly, he once paid $1.4 million to one of the blackmailers. “I was locked in a fear prison. It was a room with no doors,” he stated.
It seemed Sheen could not hold it in for a long time. In 2015, he announced that he was HIV-positive in a TV interview. He admitted that he “could breathe again.” While it has been a decade, talking about his sexual preference in 2025 has “the same value as the HIV reveal in 2015”.
The Hollywood actor further expressed that he felt relieved after the HIV status interview. He mentioned that people who had the recorded clips might have assumed that they could “shake me down.” But revealing the truth himself felt like “this will cancel their demands.”
