Former Grey’s Anatomy star, Eric Dane, will appear on an upcoming episode of Brilliant Minds. Revealing his ALS diagnosis this past April, he will appear in episode 9 of season 2.
Eric Dane will guest star on NBC series Brilliant Minds

In the guest role, the Euphoria star will play heroic firefighter Matthew, who has ALS, according to People magazine. The actor has publicized his battle and is advocating for the disease.
During September visit to Washington, D.C., Eric said, “ALS is the last thing they want to diagnose anybody with. So often, it takes all this time for these people to be diagnosed.” This, he said, precludes them from being a part of clinical trials.
He added, “I have two daughters at home. I want to see them, you know, graduate college, and get married and maybe have grandkids. You know, I want to be there for all that. So I’m going to fight to the last breath on this one.”
Eric shares two daughters — Billie, 25 and Georgia, 13 — with his estranged wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart.
Warner Bros. shared photos of Eric on the Brilliant Minds set with the series’ star Zachary Quinto. He also was recently spotted in a motorized wheelchair at the Washington, D.C. airport.
NBC’s Brilliant Minds, from writer and executive producer Michael Grassi, premiered in 2024. According to the network, the series follows Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf, “a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, and his team of interns. The group sets out to explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while dealing with their own relationships and mental health.”
British physician, best-selling author and professor of neurology, Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks, is the inspiration for the series. Some of his real-life brain disorder research and treatment chronicled in Sacks’ non-fiction books, including The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars, are subjects of the episodes.
Brilliant Minds airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC
