On last night’s Dancing with the Stars broadcast, someone was obviously missing from the audience. Though Robert Irwin’s whole family has been at every previous show, his older sister Bindi Irwin and his niece were both MIA last night. Where were they?
Unfortunately, Bindi’s four-year-old daughter Grace Warrior wasn’t feeling well, so her mom played it safe. They watched the show from home, rather than being in the audience this week.
Bindi Irwin didn’t attend DWTS this week while brother Robert competed
“We absolutely adore being in the audience to celebrate Uncle Robert on @dancingwiththestars,” Bindi wrote on Instagram. “This week, Grace has a little cold so we’re going to cheer from our living room.”
Grandma Terri Irwin sent her love in the comments. “Sending healing hugs!” she wrote, including some red hearts for extra healing power.
The Irwin family, including Bindi’s husband and Grace’s dad Chandler Powell, have been in the DWTS audience every week. They’ve faithfully cheered on Robert and his dance partner Witney Carson.
No stranger to the dance floor, Bindi was the DWTS Season 21 champion, alongside her partner Derek Hough, who’s now a judge on the show. She’s posted Instagram photos of herself and her little daughter twirling together on the dancefloor before the start of the show.
“Dancing all the way to @dancingwiththestars,” she captioned one snap, adding a reminder to vote for her little brother as he competes.
Apparently, little Grace is helping prepare her Uncle Robert for his performances by practicing with him at home. In a video shared to Instagram on September 20, Robert walks Grace through the steps of an upcoming dance. She very enthusiastically executes kicks, spins, jumps and hand-holding, before asking, “Did I do it?”
If Dancing with the Stars is still on in another 15 or so years, we could see another Irwin family member on the show. The Irwin family is leaving the Australia Zoo and moving to Los Angeles, after all.
“10s, all 10s,” Uncle Robert scored Grace’s performance. “Everybody else can go home now. Grace has won.”
