Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition premiered with an episode focused on Angie Katsanevas, and our Greek goddess delivered as usual. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star’s wife swap served as the premiere of the new series. The show was originally supposed to premiere with Wendy Osefo’s episode. But that was pushed back after her arrest.

Angie swapped places with Lindsay Flake, who lives off grid in Idaho. A far cry from the glam, oversized sunglasses, and hair salons of Angie’s life in Salt Lake City. The premiere episode was both hilarious and emotional. And viewers were thrilled by a certain surprise cameo. Here are the best, funniest, and most surprisingly moving moments from Angie K’s Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition episode.

In the Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition premiere, Angie swapped with her polar opposite. Rural Idaho would’ve been enough of a culture shock for RHOSLC’s center snowflake. But compost toilets and no running water took things to another level. Angie discovered that Lindsay, her husband Tanner, and their family switched to a natural lifestyle after she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Angie could appreciate the health benefits. By the end of the episode, she claimed the experience made her a better person. But that doesn’t mean she’s about to start eating oxtail over processed foods.

Meanwhile, Lindsay was put off by the excess of Angie’s lifestyle. But she also noticed the toll Angie’s perfectionism takes. When they finally met face to face, Angie and Lindsay both admitted they initially judged the other’s lifestyle. In a surprisingly emotional conversation, they apologized for the judgment and opened up about the lessons they learned.

The Wife Swap begins with Angie K’s hilarious arrival

Angie’s over-the-top glamour is one of the reasons we love her on RHOSLC. It also means she was as much of a fish out of water as you’d expect. When she first saw the house, Angie said it was giving The Hills Have Eyes.

Only Angie would arrive in Idaho carrying three suitcases, a mannequin head, and a hat box, while wearing a mini skirt. Later in the episode, Angie joked about the outfit she arrived in, even calling it “high body count.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay was also weirded out by Angie’s home, but for very different reasons. She also found Angie’s rules written on a scroll, because of course they were.

Mary Cosby makes a Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition cameo

Once things switched to Lindsay’s rules, the RHOSLC crew had to rough it. Elektra was horrified by the concept of sleeping outside without her phone. But it was nothing compared to Mary Cosby’s reaction.

Angie’s BFF came in at the worst possible moment. Lindsay was in the midst of gutting a fish … and some of the guts got on Elektra’s pants. “Is she skinning a chicken?” Mary wondered as she entered the backyard. Once she realized what was actually happening, a horrified Mary cried, “No no no no!”

This moment was extra hilarious with context from RHOSLC Season 6. In the premiere, Mary was horrified by the concept of fishing, and asked if you could perform fish CPR.

Mary wasn’t won over by Lindsay’s off grid lifestyle either. Instead, Mary hoped the swap made Angie appreciate what she has, “because you’re not appreciating no jungle.”

Thank god Mary and Angie made up on RHOSLC. Because their friendship makes great TV.

Once things switched to Angie’s rules, she insisted Tanner take her out on the town. It gave her a chance to wear one of the flashy cowgirl outfits she brought along. Although Angie joked that of course no one commented on her Givenchy boots, and she probably could’ve save money by getting a pair from Walmart. Nevertheless, Angie immersed herself in the culture, downing whiskey and excitedly dancing. The Idaho locals were skeptical of Angie at first, but she won them over by the end of the night. RHOSLC viewers can relate.

One of the sweetest parts of the episode was seeing how quickly Angie bonded with Lindsay’s kids. Especially her daughter Hazel. Lindsay’s two boys were a little skeptical at first, though that went away once Angie let them get milkshakes. But 5 year old Hazel loved Angie from the moment they met. It made Angie nostalgic for the time when her daughter Elektra was younger.

The entire Flake family was in tears when she had to leave. Angie also gave the kids pairs of her signature Greek flag sunglasses to remember her by. Never change, Angie!
