Love Is Blind Creator Defends Season 9 After Fan Backlash

And just like that, another season of Netflix’s Love Is Blind is over. Season 9 was filled with love and passion and … okay, it was a hot mess. There were controversial contestants from the start, not to mention the serious  lack of authenticity.

In the end, there were a few couples who took a chance and went to the altar. However, none of them chose to tie the knot. That means that Season 9 is officially the first ever season of LIB ever with no marriages. Not surprisingly, fans are dubbing it the worst season of the show ever. And the creator of the series, Chris Coelen, has something to say about it.

Love Is Blind Season 9 was called the “worst season ever” by fans

Chris recently weighed in on the negative reviews of Season 9. In his eyes, the nature of the show is to see if love in this unique environment is possible.

And, with all of the no’s at the weddings, this should remind us that marriage is a huge decision. It’s not one contestants should make in the heat of the moment for the sake of filming or to just say yes.

“That’s exactly how the experiment is supposed to work, so I would say not only is the experiment working, I think it’s working better than ever,” he told Tudum.

The series creator also made it clear that this problematic season won’t stop the show’s plans for more.

“I think we’ll see many happy couples continue to come out of the Love Is Blind experiment in the future, who have fallen in love with who they are.”

And he’s not wrong. Netflix just announced a tenth season ahead of the Season 9 reunion. We’ll soon see if it takes fans back to the OG seasons, or if it’ll be another letdown.

Love Is Blind is streaming on Netflix.
