Prince William and his father, King Charles, recently took a joint decision to relinquish Prince Andrew’s title as Duke of York. Following this, the Prince of Wales now wants the King to keep the momentum going and “slim down the monarchy” further by severing ties with his younger son, Prince Harry, and his wife, Meghan Markle.
Prince William pressuring King Charles to slim down the monarchy further, says source
Last week, the royal palace witnessed a change. King Charles and Prince William took a joint decision to strip Prince Andrew of his title, Duke of York. Now, sources tell National Examiner, Prince of Wales wants the monarch “to keep up the momentum” and take similar action for Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
William wants to “hold his father [King Charles III] to his promise, which was to slim down the monarchy together,” the source said. Part of the promise was to “cut ties” with those royals “who profit from their connections to the family even though they’re not serving royals,” as per the insider.
The father of three is adamant about bringing the change as he feels Harry and Markle are “shamelessly taking advantage of the king’s goodwill.”
Thus, to safeguard the institution, William is “piling on the pressure for his father to be decisive and consistent.” And this is a “nightmare” for the King as it “would likely send Harry and Meghan off the deep end.”
But instead of taking any hasty decision, the monarch is “trying all in his power to soothe over family tensions and get things in order before William takes the crown.”
However, according to the source, “it’s pretty much accepted within the royal household” that after William officially takes over the royal duties, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will “immediately get their titles yanked.”
