The Season 9 Love Is Blind finale was a bust. For the first time in the show’s history, zero couples took the marriage plunge, making fans question if the show has lost its way. As a viewer, the outcome of the October 22 episode didn’t surprise me. Most (if not all) of the couples faced glaring issues they couldn’t resolve within the show’s short timeframe. The season lacked a golden couple that fans felt confident were end-game.
All the Love Is Blind Season 9 couples ranked
The incompatibility of the Season 9 couples felt like proof that the show is losing some of its magic. Half the couples didn’t have a shot at making it to their wedding day, and the others weren’t exactly giving Lauren and Cameron (if you know, you know). Maybe it’s a casting issue, or maybe it’s a Denver, Colorado issue. We may not have gotten a love story, but we did get a whole lot of mess, and maybe that’s enough. In honor of the finale, let’s take a look at the couples and rank them based on compatibility.
6. Kacie McIntosh and Patrick Suzuki
Kacie McIntosh and Patrick Suzuki got engaged in the pods, but they never made it to Mexico. Shortly after the engagement, Kacie called it quits, telling Patrick the show was too much for her. She spoke more freely in a confession, admitting she wasn’t physically attracted to Patrick. So, I guess for Kacie, love is NOT blind. Fans were suspicious of her motives for appearing on the show, especially after she revealed that her ex-boyfriend had encouraged her to participate in reality dating shows while they were together.
We may have felt more sympathy for Patrick if he wasn’t also giving off clout-chaser vibes. After his breakup with Kacie, he tried to reconnect with his other connection, Anna Yuan, who left the show unexpectedly. He told her she was always his first choice, saying he would’ve proposed to her if she stayed. Viewers thought it was strange that Patrick would propose to his “second choice”, Kacie, if he still had feelings for Anna. It made us question if he really came on the show for love.
5. Madison Maidenberg and Joe Ferrucci
Madison Maidenberg and Joe Ferrucci were great entertainment, but a match made in heaven, they were not. From Joe saying in a confessional that he prefers thinner women (yuck), to the hotel room fight from hell after the pool party, there were many signs that these two should not be man and wife. Madison might’ve felt blindsided by the breakup, but fans were shocked it didn’t happen sooner.
4. Kalybriah Haskin and Edmond Harvey
You may be surprised to see Kalybriah Haskin and Emond Harvey so low on the list, considering they made it to the altar and left the show with the door open for a relationship. But I think Kalybriah’s empathetic personality is blinding her from Edmond’s red flags. I can’t overlook the scene where she says he is a completely different person off-camera.
3. Annie Lancaster and Nick Amato
Annie Lancaster and Nick Amato share many similarities, and at one point, marriage seemed to be in the cards. They are both Christian and family-oriented, so fans thought they would be eager to tie the knot. But once the couple arrived in Mexico, Nick began having second thoughts. Although the two appeared smitten with each other, he was strongly against getting married on the show. Annie was more than willing to proceed with the experiment, which caused a lot of friction. Their relationship ended with a big fight in which Annie basically tried to intimidate Nick into a lifelong commitment. Yeah, not loving that.
2. Ali Lima and Anton Yarosh
Ali Lima and Anton Yarosh seemed to have genuine feelings for each other, and I want to give them credit for that. Fans could feel the chemistry through the screen, and they looked good together. But sometimes chemistry isn’t enough. Their relationship began to fall apart once Ali realized Anton’s lifestyle differed from the one she imagined. Once she found out that Anton liked strippers and day drinking, she began to question her choice. Who knows, maybe they’ll reconnect in the future if Anton changes his behavior.
1. Megan Walerius and Jordan Keltner
I thought Megan Walerius and Jordan Keltner might be the only couple to get married. They seemed to be the most normal and mature pair in the group. Sure, they had some problems, mainly communication issues and mismatched goals, but I felt they were the most prepared for marriage. They broke up before their wedding, but I still think they are the closest we got to a love story this season.
Love Is Blind is available to stream on Netflix.
