The importance of safe sex wasn’t as prominent when Teri Hatcher was growing up.
The Desperate Housewives actress is opening up about her first sexual experience. She says she knew little about what sex was before doing it for the first time. There was very little education about that or condoms in those days.
Because of this, she says, “I just know that I’m lucky I got out alive.” When Terri was around the legal age to have sex, the aids epidemic was making news.
Teri Hatcher lost her virginity in her parents’ waterbed without protection

On Thursday’s episode of her podcast Desperately Devoted, Teri shares how little she knew about sex before doing the deed. “I didn’t know what a condom was,” she revealed. “I think the first time I was going to have sex (was) as a high school student in my parents’ house in their waterbed,” added Terri.
She recalls looking in her parents’ drawers and seeing something white that looked like a bandaid but thicker. It was three to four inches long and came in plastic. While she thought it could be a condom, she admits not knowing how to put it on. We’ll never know if that item was a condom or not. Teri says she risked having unprotected sex instead of using the mystery product. She admits that she doesn’t remember if her first sexual partner brought a condom or not.
Teri has been married twice before, to Marcus Leithold and Jon Tenney. She and ex-husband Jon have a daughter, Emerson, who co-hosts the podcast with her mom. Despite her age at 60 fans were impressed by how good Teri looked when she posted a social media post about a night swim in Kenya.
In 2005, Teri won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy for her portrayal of Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives.
